Im just kinda ciruous to know how long a rebuild usually lasts, i'v heard from some people that say 40 hrs that sounds like crap if you ask me, but i was just wondering what all you other people think and how often you rebuild the top end??

depends how you ride. someone could get 10 years.. some one could get 10 hours. my banshee is a 95 still on its first build. runs awesome tho. first kick everytime and has awesome compression. its how yamaha makes em

I have a 2001 that I'm rebuilding this year still on its original bore. I bought it in 2003 and I don't know how many hours the original owner had on it, but I put maybe around 150 hours or so on it since with regular maintenance, good jetting, and basic mods. The compression was at 100psi when I tested it last summer before I tore it apart so it probably could have gone a little longer yet.

There are a lot of factors that will determine how long you can go until a rebuild though.

My first Banshee was a 1992. A buddy of mine bought it in the spring of 1998 and I traded my CR 500 for it in the summer of 2000. I traded it for a Nice 1985 Z-28 in 2002. We always ran premium pump gas for local riding and 100LL Av-Gas for Silver Lake dunes all mixed with HP-2. That engine had never been torn apart, always ran awesome. So I guess that's not to bad, 10 yrs.
