first-banshee Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 so a couple weeks back, got the new 7mil together & went to florence. My first wide open hill climb the throttle stuck...needless to say I did a nice superman over the other side of the hill. I replaced the throttle cable & had my carbs completely gone through by my builder, floats set, adjusted, etc. It runs awesome, but at idle it just dies. It starts back up first kick & seems if you keep it off idle it doesnt have any problems. I havent riden it since, so I dont know if it will cause my any other problems or not. We're heading to dunefest in 3weeks & i'd like to have it figured out. I'm gonna try to talk my buddy into letting me swap coil & cdi box from his. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Any ideas? I disconnected all my connectors & blew them out as well as the on/off switch, no change. Any & all input/ideas are appreciated. :wallbash: Quote
shee4speed Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Do you have idle screws on the carbs or TORS? Quote
first-banshee Posted July 11, 2007 Author Report Posted July 11, 2007 (edited) Do you have idle screws on the carbs or TORS? yes, 35 pwk's should say that when I "almost landed my superman flight", lol, the bike was stilled pinned & did some pretty good flips & such, so i'm thinking it is probably something electrical that didnt like the wild ride. My builder also checked compression to make sure the motor wasnt hurt, its all good, 193lbs right, 196 left. Edited July 11, 2007 by first-banshee Quote
shee4speed Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 I'm not familiar with those.mine are stock without tors. You tried to adjust the idle screws? Quote
first-banshee Posted July 11, 2007 Author Report Posted July 11, 2007 I'm not familiar with those.mine are stock without tors. You tried to adjust the idle screws? all that was just gone through by my builder, he was who recommended blowing out all the connectors, said he's seen some wierd electrical issues after crashes due to sand, etc getting into connectors...no luck there though. shee4speed Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 So you brought the whole bike to him or just the carbs? Quote
first-banshee Posted July 11, 2007 Author Report Posted July 11, 2007 So you brought the whole bike to him or just the carbs? he had to bike, did a once over on it, made sure nothing was hurt & went through the carbs. Quote
shee4speed Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 I wouldnt think that it would be electrical if the bike runs strong off idle.I'm gonna say idle adjustment,Something really simple probably. Quote
doorslammer Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 hey sounds like an interesting ride thats the reason you need a helmet cam or someone recording it the first time i came off my shee i was going hard and the track did a hard right turn, i had it all locked up sideways and hit the this 2 foot embankment everything went flying, i bent the handelbars with my knees and my rims were screwed. anyways the idle proibaly just needs adjusting Quote

He went completely through the carbs, set floats, adjusted idle screws & adjusted for wide open throttle, he's good, so part of me doesnt want to think its in the carbs, since he was just there...its idles great & it doesnt idle low...sounds awesome, just dies out of the blue, probably died 5 time last night, but fires right back up....it wierd. 350BANSHEE350 Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 you could try messing with the cable tensioners or whatever if you say it did it after the cable change you know how you can adjust the lack in your cable for like your clutch and throttle, just the screw type thing were it connects you could try tightening it at the throttle pusher or at the carb tops just a thought Quote
