help Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 What is the best sprocket tooth pattern to use for a good all around acceleration, both bottom and top end? i raced a 450r the other day. i smoked him of the line and ended up winning the race but he was gaining on me at the end. i was in 6th wide open and he still had some gears left. if the race would of been longer i would of lost and we dont want that to happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so what do i do? locogato11283 Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 whats your gearing now? sounds like you need to gear up a little to gain some top end speed. you either need to go up one on the front or go down on the rear. Quote

shee4speed Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 Is your motor stock? 1 tooth will make a pretty big difference. Quote

help Posted June 23, 2007 Author Report Posted June 23, 2007 Is that bike ported?? i dont think so. i havent ported it anyway. it may have been before i got my hands on it. Quote
shee4speed Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 13/41 and keep the races shorter and take them 450s up the hill. Quote
dajogejr Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 40mm carb for a non ported stock stroke/stock bore cylinder just seems a bit much, that's all.. Quote
help Posted June 24, 2007 Author Report Posted June 24, 2007 40mm carb for a non ported stock stroke/stock bore cylinder just seems a bit much, that's all.. well like i said it may be ported. i dont know. i baught the shee after all the engine mods had been made. all i know is that i can run with my buddies cammed up 450 with lots of mods. i put the reeds, intake, and carb on the bike. i got a really good deal on them so i thaught i would give them a try. the intake set up brought it to life!!!!!!!!!!!!! it runs better than it ever has. is there a good way to tell if it has had a port job without pulling the head? because if not that is my next step because i cant let the four stokes get the best of me that would just be disrespect ful to everyone on this site. 96_banshee_96 Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 Look into the intakes on the cylinders. If they have been ported they will look different than a stock cylinder with no port work. Quote

RagunCajun Posted June 30, 2007 Report Posted June 30, 2007 I got a 15t and my port job pulls it with no problem. Just go up a tooth or two in the front if your engine can pull it. Personaly, i like accerlation not top speed. Quote
