JJgage30 Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 I know this sounds cheap but I want to know if anyone out there has tried to paint their plastics? If so what did you use and how good did it work?? I know,I know I am a cheapo. But unfortunately money is very tight right now and I would love to change the color of my banshee...... Thanks ahead and God Bless... Quote

Thanks ahead and God Bless... Cheap and banshee don't belong in the same sentence... It can be done, don't waste your time if you're that tight on money. It's all about the prep work, which costs money...and a good quality paint, which costs money... Plus...sooner or later it's gonna chip off. If you want to go ultra cheapo route, wet sand the plastics with 500 then 800 grit, primer them, then paint 'em. And it'll look ok until someone drops a tool on it, you rub a brush, or you do anything pretty much else to it, including a good pressure wash.... People pay 300 to 2K for a good paint job for a reason, and even then it will chip off if hit/dinged/scratched. Quote
Bill Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 Krylon plastic paint, thats pretty cheap. Quote
locogato11283 Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 id just buy some plastic.. in the long run theyll last longer and look better.. Quote
. Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 krylon fusion, scuff it up with some 800 grit, try to make it look nice (work scratches out etc) Go to a craft store, they usually have a lot more colors to choose from. Why are your plastics to the point you want to paint them? Just leave it the color it is unless the plastics are god ugly and all different non matching colors that dont work. Theres bigger issues with a banshee then what color the plastic is. Quote
5150banshee Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 if i where u and money was tight i was just shave them down and wait to get it done the right way.just beacuse if you end up spray painting them when u got to get an actual paint job it's gonna cost you more money to have them stripped down. Washburn Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Some krylon will do it but if you go cheap its gonna look cheap and cover ups stand out. Marier makes some cheap plastics or if you really want to go all the way nice fullbores or Lakers with an airbrush job. Quote

MILO Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 a cheap paint job will look just that, cheap. b-4 you go and make it worse than it already is, make some posts here and check out e-bay. i'm sure you could find some used plastics somewhere if it's just a color issue. if they are all scratched up, well, it's been ridden, so what. i'd do a little more searching before trying to cover up whatever the problem is. [email protected] Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 take your fenders to a body shop , for around 100 bucks ( is what i paid for fullbores/cutrears ) to get painted a solid color. They will look 200 % better then stock plastic crap......... Professionally painted is the only way! Quote
