cam2 Posted May 30, 2007 Report Share Posted May 30, 2007 i like the warp drive temp gauge is it good and reliable yes, it's a good one. i like it because it's small and discreet. i can still check the temp when riding just by glancing at the needle position. if the needle is at the 3 o'clock position i'm good to go, if it's at the 4 o'clock position then i know she' getting hot. pretty simple. the main reason i use it is to make sure the engine is warm before i romp on it. www.esr250.com has the same thing only made out of alumiunum instead of plastic. that's a nice one, but unless things have changed the warp drive temp gauge isn't made out of plastic either, mine isn't. cam2 Posted May 31, 2007 Report Share Posted May 31, 2007 (edited) hold up ill get a pick and info ok http://www.bluetraxx.com/reviews/tempgauge.htm and http://www.warpdriveperformance.com/banshee.htm pictures here http://www.warpdriveperformance.com/index.htm now my question is how accurate are these gauges (any gauge like this) would it be telling you how hot you engie coolant is ? and it still wouldnt be accurate for that because it just tells you how hot the coolant tube is, right? and how do you put these on do you cut the rad hose for that esr one? the most accurate temp reading you will get is by putting a gauge in-line with the main large hose that comes out of the front of the head to the top right side of the radiator (not the small vent hose ontop of the head). the coolant that comes out of the main line from the front of the head is the coolant that was just cycled through the engine so it would be the hottest. you want to know how hot the coolant is coming out of the engine not what's going in from the bottom of the radiator. installation instructions will tell you how to install them. you install the warp drive in the main line that comes out of the front of the head. you determine where you want it so that you can see it then you cut the hose then install the temp gauge with hose clamps. put coolant back in the system and you'll be good to go. just as long as there's no leaks. BansheeDan Posted May 31, 2007 Report Share Posted May 31, 2007 was it difficult to install? wasnt difficult to install at all..... only thing is you have to have a small battery to power the backlighting and shift/temp lights i got a lil motorcycle storage battery and ran it seperate of the banshee system,only had to charge the battery 1 time so far this season.
