takeallmichael Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Hey guys, I'm new here. I'm from Appleton, Wisconsin. I just bought a Banshee. I had the bright idea today to get a toy, so I set out to buy a KX125 dirt bike and on my way, I just happened to find a Banshee sitting on the side of the road. I thought, well hell, why not check it out. It's a 2004. I ended up getting it for $1500. I thought there was no way i could pass this up. But, hold on, there is a catch. It does not run well, if at all. Heres the deal. The guy said he bought a twist grip throttle and tried to install it himself. He never got the throttle to work properly, so instead of paying for some help, he decided to deal without it. He installed the thumb throttle again. He said every since it has not ran properly. It will start, pretty easily. It doesnt idle very well, unless you hold the throttle down a tad. Once you give it a gas it just dies. I also notice that if you push in on the medal "park" switch it will run a little better, but not much. It still will not run for longer than a minute. Any ideas as to where to start? Thanks guys. Screaming Yellow Zonker Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 some advice for you is to remove the T.O.R.S (throttle over ride system) from your machine. another bit of advice is download the banshee manual from the top of the repair section. a few questions for you do the carbs have some funky unit on top or are they just regular carb caps? how are the spark plugs? how is the fuel and fuel flow? any mods? we can help out a little more when we have a bit more info. be patient and it will run like a top again. mpbanshee Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Banshee's have a safety switch that will not allow the motor to rev if the parking barake is on. These are notorious for going bad. Same thing with the TORS like mentioned above. Do a search on this forum on "parking brake" and you will find instructions on how to disconnect it. Congrats on the great deal, and welcome! Quote
fastrthnu Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 To tell you the truth I really think your screwed! So Ill just send you $1500 and you can crate that thing over to my house. Get yourself a manual. Get rid of all the garbage electric/switches you dont need, get a tors eliminator kit with either twist or thumb your choice, and tune the carbs. Thats all it is. For an extra $100 n parts n tuning you got a 3-4000 dollar machine. Quote

Lol, sounds good, actually, you can just send me $1k for it, just to get it off my lawn.....NOT ) Ok guys, I got this beat running and HOLY Shiznit! This thing is badazzzzz. I zip tied that little switch near the clutch and it ran ok. There is still a bog at low RPMs, but I'm sure I can work that out. I need to get all those switches off of it. Man, I feel I got a good deal. Also, he did include the twist grip with the bike. Is this worth putting on? Let me know. Thanks guys. Quote

I personaly do not like a twister on any quad, but a buddy of mine thinks that's the only way to go! Have fun with it, and enjoy this site. The people on here are great, and the information is endless. Welcome to your new home! Quote
baddsheee Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Welcome to the site, and get use to not having any money in your wallet  The power band is addicting and you'll just wnt to go fast & faster. It's like crack, you can't stop once you're hooked. :yelrotflmao: Quote

Thanks guys. i'm assuming this quad is all stock since it still has the tors unit on it? banshees by nature will bog on the low end. if you're saying HOLY SHIZNIT now, wait til you get some mods on it....pipes, jetting, intake for starters....and once you hit the powerband it'll literally wanna jump out from underneath you!! great deal on the quad though! Turn both in all the way,. then do a half turn out on both and run it then do 1/4 turns out on both till its riding right. I prefer the twist. Will give you a forearm pump from hell at first,. but youll get used to it. Quote
philshee Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Congrats, thers nothing like a Banshee to make you give up women, and drinking. After owning one for awhile you won't be able to afford either one. Thers nothing like the rush of riding a Banshee thru the dunes, or anyplace else. Good luck on finding out your problems. Quote
