530grafix Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 i have an 06 shee and was wondering if anyone can tell me if there is a way to reduce the stiffness on the thumb throttle? Quote
Dinner Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 You could cut the springs a little bit(not too much) do little bits at a time and see if you like it. I'm sure others have ideas, I thought there was a little spring kit but I'm not sure. Quote
Hollister_Hitman Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 *cough* single carb kit *cough* Quote
bansheefourseven Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 Some of us dont have $300+ to blow on a single carb set up, and if you wanna drag big twins is the way to go. Quote
wesw Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 (edited) get a bench grinder, then hold the spring in your hands and lightly grind on teh outside loops all the way down over and over but very lightly wear gloves the spring could get some what hot. keep at it for a bit just make sure you to it all the way thru and evenly. many many passes to get it where you want. it weakens teh spring but the spring still has enough pressure to push the slides down. blaster668 Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 FAST has some lighter springs. If you really want to make it lighter, buy a throttle from a 400ex and put on there. You can get them on Ebay for like $25 all the time. It makes a huge difference. Thats why all the used EX throttles sell for like $25 and the used banshee ones sell for like $5...lol Quote

Would a heat gun or maybe even an oven do this? It seems it might be easier. Quote
vtecjun Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 I cut a coil off my stock springs but it didnt really seem to help. I am also curious on a solution. Anyone else used a 400EX throttle on their Banshee? Quote
DIRTMAN350 Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 You can buy a aluminum throttle ext from various vendors. I put one on my shee and it helps some. You can do what others do and weaken the spring. Quote
Uncle Stashu Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Would a heat gun or maybe even an oven do this? It seems it might be easier. The idea isn't to heat the spring, it's to remove material from the thickness of the spring. Taking away from the thickness of the spring will make it weaker and therefore easier to stretch. Heat is just a byproduct of the grinding process. Quote

I think you knew what you were trying to say, but you flipped it. The stiffness you feel is due to the compression of the spring. Nonetheless, by weakening the spring you feel less resistance on compression, but this is also why you have to watch reducing resistance too much as it could potentially make the slides slower to close. Quote
BansheeKid15 Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Would a TORS eliminator kit help at all? I dont know much about the carbs and throttle (so please dont bash on me for the idea) Quote
2003LimitedBanshee Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Would a TORS eliminator kit help at all? I dont know much about the carbs and throttle (so please dont bash on me for the idea) Probably slightly, I honestly don't remember the difference in pull after I took my TORS off. But, the biggest factor you are overcoming is the spring between the slide and the carb cap/top. So since that distance isn't being altered, you don't really gain anything. Quote
Trick2stroke Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Oh I see, I didn't read your post carefully enough. :shoothead: I might try that for a temporary fix. Quote
ClimbAnyHill Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Would a TORS eliminator kit help at all? I dont know much about the carbs and throttle (so please dont bash on me for the idea) It didn't help me when removing tors. Springs stay in the same position.. I too would like to know who's running a 400ex throttle? Or anything else besides stock?? Quote
