i had something like this happen to me..it was all over a mustang alum rad and an asshole in nj. well i guess the scam is to buy something from someone and wait a few day then tell the person you shit is broke. well then they pack box up and make claim. and they get claim money and your good product. well this shit bag had posted a few months earlier that he had a way to get slightly damager brand new radiators which would be the best for him to get.(i guess you need to be smart about things so someone can't do a search and find thing that incriminate you.) any wat i shipped him a brand new alum rad packed up tighter than a nuns ass.well then 3 day later the guy sends me an email saying ups damaged my rad and how does he make a claimn. i asked for pics(now my rad was in my race car when it was getting painted and it had a little orange over spray on it, also had 2 electric fans on the front) well little did he know that when ups picked it up for the claim it was sent back to me after it was inspected by ups. all the while he did not know this9 so i get it and my radiator was presto chango.. all of the sudden it was polished and the fins that were crushed in(from the 2 fans i had on it and 2 big circles were gone) i called bull shit and told him thatif he wanted any money back he was going to send my rad back then we would talk. never heard from him again. so i got a radiator and and fixed where it had a little damage at the water neck and gave it to my father. so long story short i alway take pictures of stuff before shipping due to that. there is alway a way to mark it so you know its yours if it gets broken or someone is trying to scam.. sorry for the post whore but felt that i needed to air that! don.

I am not sure what this guy is up to yet. There are really only three things I can think of so far:

1.) UPS actually damged the carbs even though he says that it doesn't look like the box was damaged during transit (I finally heard back from him today and I told him that the carbs were fine when they left me, so that they had to be damaged during shipping, and I also told him how to go about filing a claim. I haven't heard back from him on that yet.).

2.) There really ins't anything wrong with the carbs and he is just trying to get some money back (if he is not going to file a claim with UPS, then he needs to send me pictures of what he is talking about.).

3.)He broke the carbs fooling around with them and he is trying to pull something working the "they were damaged when I got them angle."

The guy only has a feedback rating of 17 on eBay all of which are within the last 90 days and he has 100% feeback, all as a buyer. I was looking through what he has been buying and it looks like mostly used Banshee parts, but the weird thing is that he has bought several duplicate parts (handle bar switches, etc.). I am still not sure what to make of the whole deal.

To give a bit of an update, I haven't heard from the guy for two days since I explained to him about filing a claim with UPS. I figure he is either filing a claim with UPS, getting ready to scre me over in one way or another, or he's just not going to do anything.

That is good news for you. Seems like he was trying to get something for nothing.. You had better luck than I did

I'll be keeping the 'ol fingers crossed. I am still a bit nervous about what the guy is up to. Based on the stuff the guy has been buying off eBay, he may just be mechanically incompetent and couldn't figure out how to work the choke or the cable adjusters.

not trying to jack your thread... but i'm curious has anybody here ever had to file a claim with FedEx?

i know that UPS sucks for their "insurance" (i could tell some horror stories). and i have just started using FedEx (mainly because they are cheaper than UPS) but i was just kind of curious about FedEx????????

No worries about the thread jacking. The intent of the original posting was taken care of as far as I am concerned. I'll let y'all know if anything interesting happens regarding it.

As for FedEx, I have never filed a claim for a peronal item with them, but I did have to do it at work once about 5 years ago. The claim was for a part of a machine fixture that was something that I had cooked up and was delivering to Ford in Flat Rock,MI. Needless to say it was a prototype and the only one of its kind. It was packed in a well built wooden and was encapsulated in an expanding foam. We had insured the package for $3000 or something like that. The package got to Ford (shipped next day air) and it looked like it had been drug down the freeway for 10 miles. Ford filed the claim, we made another part for Ford, and about three months later, the FedEx inspector tells Ford that he didn't feel the package was worth $3000 and that they would pay out the claim at an adjusted rate of $400. I got all pissed off and pawned the problem off on my boss. I am not sure what happened, but i don't it really ever got resolved.

I know that probably doesn't help much as it's a long, dated story, but I thought it might be entertaining at the very least. :banghead:

I ship custom wheels & tires on a regular basis and only have UPS as a service provider. Lemme tell ya they SUCK!! You insure a package for X-amount of dollars but the MAX you will ever get out of them is $100 per package PERIOD. Their legal disclaimer is IRON-CLAD fellas...Basically in a nutshell is says...ITS NOT OUR FAULT EVER...EVEN IF IT IS OUR FAULT ITS STILL NOT OUR FAULT...Lastly it should say in the disclaimer "YOU ARE A TOTAL DUMBASS IF YOU USE OUR SERVICES BECAUSE WE ARE GOING TO SMASH YOUR SHIT AND ITS GONNA BE YOUR FAULT WE DID IT"...Rant off...haha

Really though...I would recomend using USPS or DHL..They have much better policy and service.

Let me preface what I am about to say by stating that no matter who decide to ship with, there is going to be atleast one bad story about the shipping company.

USPS has lost several things of mine, but I went through the claims process and got a full value refund every time. They have never broken anything of mine.

DHL nibbles on my nutsack. They have lost (never found) 4 large engines in big crates. It could easily be explained by one of our competitors stealing our engines to get some insight into what we are working on, but one of those engines that went missing was a Hino I6 diesel (read: easily 4 times heavier than the normal engines we ship) that was to replace the blown engine in one of our shop trucks. Plus, in no way shape or form was there any writing on anything to suggest it was a race engine (shipped straight from hino to us and our name didn't appear on any of the paper work, as it to be delivered to a different facility for install).

Every time I have ever talked to a customer service person from DHL I basically want to kill them or myself. It seems like they actively avoid work, have no idea where anything is, and in general suffer from mild retardation. What's even worse is that they have a call center and shipping hub right up the street from us. The couple times I have had to go there, the customer service folks wind up being even worse in person. :shoothead:

Been using FedEx for a while now, some of our customers still feel UPS is the only shipper out there. Never have I had an issue with FedEx. Or the USPS, I will use either whenever possible, before UPS after what I am going through right now..

So....I get an email from eBay stating that the guy I sold the carbs to has done an information discovery thinf with eBay (where eBay realease our cxontact info to each other). I am not sure if this is a positive thing or what?

God dammit, I hope this guy is not retarded...................................

i sold an xbox on ebay a while back. I took a bunch of pictures of it including the serial number, evn pics of it in the box to be shipped. The guyfiles a complaint to paypal and paypal immediatly took the money back. The guy said it looked like i had thrown it across the street before i shipped it. He then got my info and constantly called me. I gave paypal my pics and let them know he was harrasing me and all of a sudden the guy stopped calling me and i got my money refunded... not sure what happened but it all turned out ok, i guess.... So, good luck to you.
