charles_in_houston Posted February 12, 2007 Report Posted February 12, 2007 I purchased a Direct Drive lockout clutch cover off eBay a while back. Shortly after I got that, I started looking for a billet clutch basket. I ended up buying the basket from the same guy. The purchase of the billet clutch basket was supposed to be a Hinson brand. From what I Quote
kaotik1 Posted February 12, 2007 Report Posted February 12, 2007 I can not answer the stamp question, but I think there is not suppose to be play in that gear. That could make for all kinds of bad if the gear or those bolts let go. Quote
MDS2106 Posted February 12, 2007 Report Posted February 12, 2007 The clutch cushions are worn, and need to be replaced. Quote
theshee Posted February 12, 2007 Report Posted February 12, 2007 Clutch cushions for sure. Mine is the same way right now. It will kinda growl if you run it like that. I am going to be getting a new billet basket and some straight cut gears for mine. If you have the $$ I would suggest getting straight cuts as well if you have to take it all apart. Quote
dajogejr Posted February 12, 2007 Report Posted February 12, 2007 From what I gathered....UPP makes some damn good clutch basket cushions. I don't know if Hinson makes a basket that doesn't say Hinson on it....it's possible, but every basket I've seen by them had that darkish brown/gray titanium color to it....with Hinson in White Engraved lettering. Cushions are relatively cheap...and since the basket is already off, absolutely no reason not to replace them.... Quote
shanYE west Posted February 12, 2007 Report Posted February 12, 2007 (edited) I got the GYT-R basket thats made by hinson and it just says YFZ350 banshee on the inside some do say by hinson. Mine dont. Edited February 12, 2007 by fouledout2 Quote

majicmike Posted February 12, 2007 Report Posted February 12, 2007 This is typical with the hinson basket. Pull the backing plate of the back and set it on a flat surface and see if it is bent even a little bit. Hinson uses a cheap backing plate and they bend rather easy. once they bend it will eat cushins all the time. There is a fix you can get a t-1 steel backing plate and the red cushins and it will fix the problem for good. Quote
charles_in_houston Posted February 13, 2007 Author Report Posted February 13, 2007 (edited) I'll check that backing plate for sure. Here is a photo of what I have. I'm also concerned with the gear on it. Looks like it may have some "strange" wear on it. I can only put one picture in here. How do I upload another? charles_in_houston Posted February 13, 2007 Author Report Posted February 13, 2007 Figured it out. Quote
charles_in_houston Posted February 13, 2007 Author Report Posted February 13, 2007 The white piece on the left is part of a packing peanut. There is a bunch of grey tape residue that makes the back look all chewed up. Quote
cam2 Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 personally, i would ask that cat for a refund. not only does it have the free play that you say it does, which it shouldn't. a couple of teeth look screwed up to me, from the looks of the last pic. some sorry phucks will sell anything. Yes, I considerd talking to him about it but here is the deal. I gave $125 shipped to my door for the billet clutch basket, Clutch pack and stock clutch (Clutch boss, Clutch adjuster and pressure plate). For that price I don't mind pulling off the gear from my old basket. I was a little disapointed that it was not a Hinson basket though (maybe it is?). I was pretty impressed with the previous deal from the same guy on the Direct Drive cluctch cover. I gave $220 shipped and the auction didn't mention that there was a billet impeller installed. I can't be too angry. Edited February 13, 2007 by charles_in_houston Quote
