2001JLShee Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 I've got PowerCore 2's on my FMF Fattys right now, but about 22 of us are goin on a ride up in South Dakota in July and spark arrestors are required, I was thinking about just buying TurbineCore silencers and just running those and getting rid of my PowerCores, is there a big difference as far as performance restriction between the two different types of silencers? I searched and searched and couldn't find any good info, figured I'd ask the experts. Thanks for your help Quote

Thanks for your help between those two silencers, they arnt going to make much of a differance the turbinecore are a little more restrictive becasue of the sparkies.. but your money maker is the actual pipe... csrmel Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 silencers dont really do much for performance. i removed my toomey silencers and installed the stock units so i can do wheelies without scraping the silencers. i couldnt tell a bit of difference in the power output so im just going to keep the stockers on forever and sell my toomeys. jbooker82 Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 I switched from power core II to turbine core II's and couldnt really tell. They were with FMF SST Pipes. I now run Toomey T5's and just bought the sparkies for when i need a spark arrestor Quote
richwuest Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 I don't know specifcly about the Turbine cores, but with Trinity silencers that have a removeable spark arrestor insert, they can really choked down a motor. The screens had most of the holes filled with carbon, so only a few of the holes were open to let the exaust out. You might want to see if the Turbine cores can be taken apart easily to clean the screens. Quote
sandthrower370 Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 well i used to ride 4 strokes and my screen spark arrestor got plugged up and blew a hole in it.... so im thinkin it would be a good idea to be able to clean it easily Quote
2001JLShee Posted January 17, 2007 Author Report Posted January 17, 2007 I was sittin at home, snowed in this weekend, I've got a pair of stock silencers just loungin around gathering rust, does anybody know if they'll fit on FMF Fattys?? Quote
csrmel Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 they might. i had to cut the oem silencers an inch shorter to be able to fit them to my t5's. oter than that they bolted up perfectly. Quote
