Bansh-eman Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 I'm not saying I can't handle it, but if it goes from that wide to a bike width in a matter of a few hundred yards....yeah, not a good idea. Maybe you should go back to welding pipes, making excuses and half ass running a business...they seem to be your forte better than telling people cubs are trail friendly. Dave Moore's new drag chassis has a tighter turning radius than a stock banshee frame. I guess in your opinion that means it's more trail friendly too, right?? oh SNAP!!! the Oracol strikes again! CMAC Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 im only saying this from my dragracing experience in cars not quads but. if u dont even know what a cheeta or a cub motor is dont buy one. i know guys who go out and buy these big ass motors for there car and hook them up with dads money then they race it and hurt them self. so i say go hook up ur stock motor. I know what they are, i just never rode one. Ive ridden built 4 wheelers my whole life race 230 suz since 4th grade to 500 flat trke quadzillas (brother has a 250r with a cr500 motor in it) You know how it is brotherly competition, whos fastes. I have a family so i want to keep my ban trailable. When i get enough money im going to get another ban and its getting either a cub or a cheeta. Hate to get beat! :: Quote
CMAC Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 aw man, i wish my bike was together... supposedly gonna be one hell of a fun trail bike... trinitys, 33mm pwks, billet intakes, +4stroker longrod, f.a.s.t.s dune/play port.. noss head blah blah... should be a blast... i wish i had it all back to put together and give you first hand how it is... This is almost exactly what im thinking about doing. When you get it together let me know how it is! Quote

black sunshine Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 Just below where you replied a few minutes ago there is a spot that reads "New Topic", there you go. Also found on the top of the page in the same loc. Try out the SEARCH located on the toolbar on top of the page and you will be able to read for a week on CUBS.......... Try to use the search as often as possible first before making a post, you will usually find your answer there...especially if your going to ask "Which is faster" or anything about a boost bottle, Man, these guys will eat you up!!!!! Welcome!!!!! Quote
richwuest Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 I cannot comment on the Cubs, but the full Cheetahs I think would be OK to use in the woods and trails. A friend of mine just bought a bike set up with the Cheetahs, stock stroke with only a clean up port job, 35mm carbs and Trinity pipes, and that bike has a very managable and smooth powerband. The bike is pretty fast, but not as fun as some of the other bikes in the group because the powerband is so smooth. I would say that the power delivery of this bike is quite a bit more controlable than the ported 4 mill strokers we have in the group, but still just as fast. Only problems I see with the setup is that the cost is too steep for this setup, and I like the feel of the hard hit that you get with a more ported setup. Now if this motor had a proper port job on a 4 mill crank, It would be one hell of a fun ride, but probably too much for trail riding then. Anyone know how much it would cost to have a set of Cheetahs reported and replated? I think he may be wanting to cut the Cheetahs with a more dune agressive port job with a 4 mill crank. Quote

dajogejr Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 Cheetahs and cubs don't need to be ported, per say. Cleaned up, yes...not ported. The Cheetah has very similar port timings as cubs ...sure, they are smoother, but they too are designed more for dune and drag than trails. Everybody and their brother says they're no good for trails, about 2% of the people say they can be made to work. I really can't believe this thread keeps on going and going like it does, and they have in the past.... :: Quote
theshee Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 Just got my 4 mil cub ordered today. Got some shearer inframe pipes too. Cant wait till they get here so I can see what ive got. Quote
06BaNsHeE Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 Dont waste your money on any of them.Just get a nice port job and save up the money for some good suspension and maybe some aarms. Quote

I think he may be wanting to cut the Cheetahs with a more dune agressive port job with a 4 mill crank. By the way....Millennium or US Chrome will replate the cylinder. Millennium is who does CP's cubs that get to their resellers plated... Speaking of suspension and chassis...when you start getting into the higher HP motors...like say 70 or so, you're gonna need a longer arm unless riding on the grab bar is your thing. Anything less than a +6 on a good running cub motor is asking for trouble, if you ask me... Quote
Fireman-hott Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 Thats exactly what your saying, YOU CAN'T HANDLE IT! Just because you and better than 90% of people that ride a shee can't handle the power a cub puts out doesn't mean Myself or anyone else can't. 90% of the people on this board have never even ridden a cub, but I bet most have rode a shee with lower 70's for HP in the trails and loved it. 10hp isn't going to make that much of a difference, and any difference can be overcome with gear swapping and tire size increases. The drag chassis isn't ment to be rode other than straight so no it wouldn't. and +6 on a good cub motor is a must? Yeah in the sand when your running paddles, or when your riding on asphalt its nice to have. But if you can feather a clutch, work the revs and launch in 2nd properly you can run a -2. Most trails people are gonna ride aren't gonna be snowmobile trails, where guys with triple cylinder 2 strokes are racing down them a 100mph+ but you can't handle the trail at 60 or 70mph. Get the fuck outta here. Ooo the boogeyman is coming to get me with the pipe welding oh no. Funny that I know of 1 person that has a set I welded and thinks Tom did them because they are so good. One of the same people that talk shit like you, funny how that goes. If I mentioned his name the next breath outta his mouth would be how shitty they were, totally contradicting himself. SO blow me. Just goes to show how well you know the motors, suspension, gearing, carbs, etc. that you have to bring up old bullshit like it lends any sort of credence to your arguement. Weak Quote
Bansh-eman Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 (edited) all hail firemann, as we cower in his shadow!!! your a fukin tool... your the same guy that would want to put a 800hp hotrod on a gokart track becasue you can undergear it and make the power "stable" for the track... as you claim most guys have riddin a 70hp bike in the trails... i HIGHLY dought that... so what the extra 10 for the cub right? as said 100 times the cub was designed with one thing it mind going fast in a straight line... so to spend money to DE-tune the motor to handle the trials is fukin pointless! get your stockers ported and you dont have to de-tune a thing...you explain to everyone how a drag ported motor with close to no bottom end which is MUCH needed in the trails and more top end then you could ever hope for is a good trail bike? by the time your motor is getting on the pipe your locking down and starting from 0 all over again... get your self a good set of breaks if your the idiot thats going to build this motor for trails...and while your at it a nice heavy life insurance policy so your family at least benifits from your jackhole move to try and prove others wrong to simply say you did in your last few post you made me relize that any advice given by you would be immediately disregarded, to say dajo dosent know what he is talking about seals the deal on that...he has more then helped TONS of ppl on here without giving bogus info...
