Handyman Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 The plastics on my shee's look like they could use a bit of shining up. I thought about using the Meguiar's Gold class or NXT car wax on the fenders but I wasn't sure if it would cause the plastic to discolor later on down the road. I did a search on here and nothing came up as well as on Meguiar's site and nothing. Any help is greatly appreciated as always... Quote
theshee Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Waxing plastic wont really do anything. It makes plastic a little slick, but doesnt really change the color, and wont discolor in the future. If you have painted plastics that are clear coated, its like waxing a car, but if its just plastic its a waste of time. I have even tried the plastic polish and it was dissapointing. Quote
scooter Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 i havent had any luck with car wax on plastic if anything it makes it duller.i like son of a gun it shines good as isnt as sticky as armor all and protects the plastic Quote
sand rocket Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 I use the finish 2001. The stuff that is in a neon green bottle. Dosent atract dirt like armoral and others. leave a good shine on my black plastics. Quote

Matt I use the PRO HONDA spray cleaner & polish. It's in a black and light red can at your local honda dealer. It works great on plastic and removes swirl marks too from washing the plastic. Quote

Thanks Kai. Edited January 7, 2007 by Handyman Quote
STLBILL Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 If you have any scratches in your plastic car wax may fill them in. If you don't use color matched wax and have many scratches it will look very bad. Getting the wax out of many scratches is a pain if not impossible. You just have to let it wear out over time. Quote
WickedWayz83 Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 I use Eagle One Wax-As-U-Dry. It comes in a blue spray bottle and it works pretty good as far as giving it a killer shine, it's not going to make a day/night difference, but it is pretty convenient. Just spray it on and wipe it off, and water just beads off of it. Quote
blaster668 Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Furniture polish like Pledge works really well. Gives a nice shine and actually repels dust rather than attract it like armor all and stuff. Quote
NYUK Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Matt I use the PRO HONDA spray cleaner & polish. It's in a black and light red can at your local honda dealer. It works great on plastic and removes swirl marks too from washing the plastic. honda cleaner is the shiznit. i use it on everything. cars trucks quads and streetbikes. in my opinion it is one of the best spray waxes out. most waxes like turtle wax tell you on the bottle not to use it on plastics. mop n glow works great to get the dirt out of scratched banshee plastics. check out that honda stuff, i highly recommend it. differentstrokes Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 I forgot about plexxus too, most dealers and motorcycle shops carry it in an aerosal can. Hey NYUK, the mop n glo actually works just the PC plastic renew. You can also use industrial floor wax like they use for floors at walmart or the grocery store. Quote
Wallrat Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Gaaaah! I can't believe nobody has used Protect-all. I used to use plexus, then I tried the honda stuff. Protect-all works way better than any of that shiz. Its less streaky than plexus and has UV inhibitors which most of these spray cleaners don't have. Basically its better than anything on the market right now. I've used it on all my vehicles for the past several years. Website Quote
