Rippin-it Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 I just ordered a Dyna FS igntion from Trinity Racing for my 06 LE. The guy I spoke with said for $60 more they will custom tune the cdi box to produce more power. First off, does this mod really help throttle response and low mid "pickup"? Secondly, is it worth having them custom program the cdi or just go with the curves from Dynatek? I have T6 pipes, k+n with no lid, NOSS 18cc domes, V3's and will be adding the Dyna FS and a 15 T front sprocket. I got the Dyna instead of the adjustable timing plate mainly for the ease of installation etc. I am hoping the ignition will offset the bottom end loss from the bigger sprocket....do you think? Quote
Washburn Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Are these easy to use/tune also? Do they come with directions for a timing curve on a stock motor bike with all of the preformance boltons? Why are these better than advancing the timing useing a plate? Quote
Aaron.D Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Nice, The FS rocks. The tuning option can be a good way to blow a motor. Then have them tell you its use at your own risk. The stock options are fine for all around riding. Custom tuning could run the motor lean and hot if not done right. Your environment changes. They are a huge help in the low end. Good plugs and smooth oil you might never foul a plug again. It nice to change from hi low end to a stock curve or a hi top end. All on the fly. Have fun and keep us in the loop with the results in your eyes. Quote
LIM_Whiteboy4life Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 it basicaly 4 diff bikes. when you mess with the 4 settings there is stock curve 1st curve(low end) 2nd(mid range) 3rd(all out topend), and it will fire up every time and you can program it yourself with the software dyna sells. so you can plug it into your computer and make your own curve and its about 100 bucks but i dont have that.... dont need it... but the FS is kickass and someone has a machine with the dyna and a adjustable stator plate i think he said 4-6 advance on it with curve 3 so yeah you can benifit from it greatly either way. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 i love my dyna! made a world of differance! the stock 3 curve is pretty good but trust me you can make some badass curves with the softwear... the dyna is nice casue you dont have static timing like a plate... you can make your timing change at differant rpm ranges to help your all around performance...how muh did trin sell it for? you can get them on ebay for 250 Quote
Rippin-it Posted December 3, 2006 Author Report Posted December 3, 2006 Ok fellas, I installed the 15t and the Dyna set to curve 3. These mods are in addition to T6 pipes, v3's, 18cc Noss head, K+N with no lid, and 330 mains - needle 4th - stock pilots at sea level. My opinion on the Dyna FS...... YESSSAH! This mod is phenomenal! I geared up 1 tooth on the countershaft sprocket but with the igntion the bottom-mid hit/response is much, much better than the stock gearing. Normally with my mods and jetting it takes 6-8 kicks cold with the choke on....... now 3 kicks and it fired right up. I highly reccomend it. I wonder if builders can custom tune this cdi for my pipes/ mods etc. Quote

Rippin-it Posted December 3, 2006 Author Report Posted December 3, 2006 they absolutly can... thats the point of the software I typed that wrong, I meant can Toomey racing program these to work with their pipes? I know trinity racing does it, but who else can? Quote

Rippin-it Posted December 9, 2006 Author Report Posted December 9, 2006 I am definetly going to get it reprogrammed at some point. I was swotching the curves from stock to curve 1 and 3 and what a difference. The bottom end is sluggish with taller gearing when the curve is set to stock, once you switch to curve 1 it rips! Quote

Bansh-eman Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 how do you change the curves? What switch positions mean what? go to your first post.. i sent you a link... its dyna page... search through it and youll find a page that explains it all to you... Quote
dajogejr Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 It's gonna cost you to tune it in, but I'd be interested to see where you end up. Keeping in mind...advancing it too much could mean the need for race gas. You'll need about a Franklin for the software and cable, then prolly another hundo or so for dyno time. I'm going to have mine done up when my bike is ready again. I'm going to have an aggressive curve tuned for drag racing only, then a more moderate curve for bouncing around the dunes. Should be fun!!! By the way...if it took 6 to 8 kicks to start it before, you're either off on the jetting...or the top end is starting to get a bit worn. I'd do a compression test for sanity/safety sake, then tune that jetting in.... Quote
