Bigvincent Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 Ok, just getting ready to put the two halves back together, but noticed that I only have circlips on the bottoms. Is that correct or should there be a circlip on the top as well? TIA Quote

Bigvincent Posted November 3, 2006 Author Report Posted November 3, 2006 cool, what about the groove in the top part of the case? Do you fill that with the yama gunk? Thanks Quote
BigRed350x Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 No, the groove in the upper portion is so the ring can rotate up once your cases are together. Its only purpose is to hold that bearing in place, doesn't matter if its on the top or bottom or half-way between. Quote
Bigvincent Posted November 3, 2006 Author Report Posted November 3, 2006 Great...Thank you for the help! Quote
Bigvincent Posted November 3, 2006 Author Report Posted November 3, 2006 What other substance do you use to bond the cases, dealer just told me they discontinued yamabond 4? Quote
lowriderb Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 threebond (1117 i think), or hondabond work the same.. your looking for the semi drying sealant.. Quote
IROOST1 Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 What other substance do you use to bond the cases, dealer just told me they discontinued yamabond 4? Get a new dealer, they are full of crap. Yamabond is readily available at almost any place that sells yamaha's or parts for yamaha's. Quote
ToomeySheeLE Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 Jared told me he uses High temp red silicon.. I believe he's had his apart many more times than once. Im sure its a helluva lot cheaper than yamabond.. I plan on using it once it comes time to slap em back together... Quote

BigRed350x Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 Yeah, I use that high temp red silicone. Have used it for years, on every set of cases I have split. Haven't had one leak yet, and the stuff holds together forever. Its high temp, soft-sealant, gas and oil resistant, and easy to apply. Cheap too! One tube will do like 10 sets of cases. Quote
rocketboy Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 threebond is like 5$ a tube ,isnt it worth it to seal up such a big invesment as a modified banshee engine the right way ? Quote

Bigvincent Posted November 3, 2006 Author Report Posted November 3, 2006 Sorry for another question but, is it necessary replace the crankshaft seals? Quote
