RNBRAD Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 Looks like 2 versions, one with a 20g hard drive for 499 and one with the 60g for 599. Seems kind of high but realisticly with the blu-ray player, not too bad since those alone are a grand. The 360 with the external hd-dvd player and the 20g hd will be around 600. External hd-dvd player will retail for 199. So actually the comparable PS3 will be a 100 dollars cheaper. Thing is people can opt not to buy the hd-dvd of the 360 but not the blu-ray of the Sony. I just hate the idea of an external drive on the 360 though. I have the 360 but my money is on the PS3 as the new flagship gaming console for the next few years. I'll probably be waiting in line and hopefully the price will keep some of the gaming nerds out of my way. :biggrin: Quote

He said there was some people that camped out just to make sure they got one. He had to put a 100 down to guarantee he will get one when they come out. He said people was already trying to sell their preorder receipts for rediculous prices.I'm not a gamer at all so I don't really understand all the hype. Quote

csrmel Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 the price of the ps3 counts me out. i got a used ps2 some years ago with a couple games and 3 controllers for $50. im still using it today. ill wait on the ps3 for atleast a year and grab a used one off ebay for $200. $600 for a new ps3? fuck that, thats 1 or maybe 2 monthly payments on a REAL car or motorcycle. I dont have all the free time to play that much anymore and it seems the more advanced the systems get, the harder the games are to play. I got 360 and the last game I been playing is elder scrolls oblivion. I could sit down and 3 hours later I still havent accomplished anything. Im writing that off. Oh and paying 3x too much for an already over priced item doesnt seem so bad cause I saw on tv the other day someone paid russian govt 20 mil to fly to space. Give me 50 bucks and I'll give them something that will put them in space just the same! :wink: Quote
PhilMoore Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 I don't think you need to be leary of getting the first one out. I got my PS2 the day they were released (by accident). It is still going strong. I have never had a problem with it. When PS2 came out, there was a line at Walmart from the electronics department clear to the garden section. When I saw that, I left. The next morning, my wife went to Target, and they had a whole pallet full of them. She just picked one up and bought it for me. There wasn't even a line, they were just sitting there. I bet there won't even be a line for PS3 except maybe at a "release event" or some bogus promo rally. I can't beleive they are releasing Ridge Racer again. I won't fall for that shit this time! Too bad the only game (motorstorm) I am remotely interested in isn't even being released when the console is. Quote
