locogato11283 Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 well today i was puttin on my new clutch cover and i noticed a clip sittin inside the old one. i knew right away that it was the snap ring that held on the idler gear. upon further inspection i noticed the washer chewed in half at the bottom of the case..sooo, needless to say i put on a new washer and snap ring. just a warning to you guys. might wanna check your shit. i didnt have any reason to think that it would be off and who knows how long its been like that. im just glad i caught it before i tore something up..anyway, just a heads up.. BigRed350x Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 Hey tyler, did you go through and check all your brass bushings on the idler gear and clutch basket? I've ran into that same problem in the past and it was a worn bushing on the idler gear itself. Let it move just enough to rub and catch on stuff and that little bit of movement would eat the clip after a couple rides. I hate how yamaha set that stupid little thing up. Quote

woodro77 Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 the idle gear clip fell off on my motor and it went into the clutch basket gear , fucked that gear up , then broke the plastic water pump gear and over heated my motor , that was a expensive leson to learn , wish there was a better way to hold that idle gear on Quote

badassbanshee479 Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 my bike kicked back on me one day and busted my clutch cover, upon removal of the cover I found the clip sitting in the bottom of the cases also. I then noticed the bushing was wore out on the idler gear, I guess when they kick back it takes the idler gear out and tosses the clip. just something to watch out for. Quote
