hollisatp Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 I have tried to remove my flywheel using the right tool but both times I got the tool as far in as it would go, it stripped out when I tightened the bolt. Now I fked up my stator and do not have a spark... and no more tool?? any help would be appreciated.... (I tried to keep the flywheel still using a screw driver in one of the holes) I know it was a bad idea and I already know I need a new stator.. Quote
LiftdT4R Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 I did the same thing the first time I tried to remove my flywheel. I found that when I did it, the puller would not thread in al the way because there was dirt and shit in the threads on the flywheel. It seemed as though it were tight, and threaded out, but it wasn't. Measure the threads with a ruler, and match them up to the puller, you'll see about how far in it has to sink. Hit the flywheel threads with some WD40, and carefully clean them with a wire brush. The flywheel puller is also rverese threaded, so when you screw it into the flywheel it will be lefty tighty, and righty loosie. Aside from that, I used a cheater bar(probably not reccomended), and mine popped off. I've done it on 2 banshees now, and I only had a problkem the first time. I guess if it were rusted it might not want to come off so easily, but otherwise, I would think it shouldn't be a problem. Quote
dajogejr Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 Clean it as said...and hit that nut on the puller with a 1/2 inch impact. That baby will pop right off. Quote
BigRed350x Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 When I split my cases last time I totally jacked the hell out of my puller and was tired and didn't want to mess with it any more so I welded the puller to the wheel and hit it with the impact gun. The stator was shot anyway... and I have a spare flywheel so no biggie. Quote

platinumjason Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 Mine popped right off when I hit it with the impact. Could be because its only 2 years old with some pretty easy ride time it Quote
jbooker82 Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 When you get a good amount of pressure on the puller. Smack the end of the puller tool with a hammer. Most of the time that will cause the flywheel to pop right off. Quote

Last time I took mine apart, I used a 2 ft breaker bar, and damn near stood on the thing till it popped off. But the threads were fine. Quote
