There is no original paint. the color on there is the color of the plastic.

If you're not a pro or at least have pro equipment, it will not look good.

If you do anything but drag in a clean enviroment, the paint will start to chip and peel and look like crap.

I painted my frame and plastics, mostly because i didnt have the money for new plastics or have anywhere to get my frame PC'd. My frame was red and white at first, so i sanded it all down, then painted with Gloss Black Rust Paint. And for my plastics, i spent a good few days just sanding down the plastics, then cleaned them up from dust, etc. And sprayed very very small coast on them, probably a lot of coats after it all added up.

I painted my plastics and they came out great. I washed my plastics down with soap and water then dryed them. I used the KRYLON Plastic Paint that comes in a can, that I purchased from Pep Boys. This stuff is made just for plastics and works great. I did mine about 9months ago and it never chipped cracked or nothing, also I ride wooded trails and sand pits.

I also used the KRYLON plastic paint. I used a light sand paper...800-1500 grit to let the paint adhere to the plastic better. I put on numerous thin coats, prob near 7 or 8 then used clear coat, prob 10 really thin coats, turned out kick ass, can bend the fenders and no paint cracking. :ninja:

NOT TO SURE ON THE KRYLON IV HEARD ITS GOOD BUT IF YOU ELECT TO NOT USE THAT AND MIX YOUR OWN PAINT JUST MAKE SURE YOU USE A FLEX AGENT....I HAD MINE DONE NOT MUCH OF A PAINTER MYSELF...LOL

Yeah, Krylon is some good stuff but there are some negatives. I painted an old recon I have because I wanted to try it on it before I risked it on my banshee. Its goes on well if you use slow strokes and wait a full minute between recoats. The bad thing about it is that you have to realize that paint is paint. If your wanting to use black and your bike is white(using a different color basically) eventually something is going to brush up against your bike and if its something hard the paint WILL stratch off and the white will show up like a sore thumb and something WILL eventually happen, especially if you ride trails. If you ride dunes or drag and your bike doesnt run the risk of contact with environmental elements then go for it but if it does then I wouldnt suggest it unless you use the same color as your plastics.

What 530grafix said. For the frame powder coating would hold up best.

For the plastic a base coat/clear coat will hold up foe a long time. At the same time you can't

expect it to hold up to the elements forever.

The key to a good paint job for plastic the all in the prep. Clean let say this again it has to be

clean. If you have ever put any silicone products on your bike you will have problems

painting it. I had to redo some plastic 3 or 4 times because I didn't get it all off.

Also if you plan on sanding it at all make sure have it all clean or you'll grind the

all the bad stuff into the plastic. A good prep cleaner and ad. promoter and a plastic

auto primer. then your base/clear coat. Like said before like coats the more mils you put on it

will make it crack. If you use a base/clear coat you do not need a flex agent. I would recommend

a fish eye ad.

hey all, i wet sanded my shee plastics down with 1000 grit and then shot with blue krylon plastic paint. i love it and it looks great. my plastics were all messed up too. but i love the way it turned out and all the riding i do is trails, mud, so i personally would say it is reliable.ive bent the fenders and they havent chipped or spidered at all. once you put stickers on it it'll look great.

thats just my $.02
