First thing that should be done is clean it really really well with prep sol or any automotive prep cleaner. If it has ever had any thing with silicon base product it will fish eye on you. Then sand down 600,800,
1000,1500 grit. By then it should be very smooth. Then prep sol it again, then take a tac cloth to it.
Now you will need a adhesive promoter I use bulldog. Once dry tac cloth it again. Now your ready for your primer. You will want to use a primer for plastic. When dry I wet sand it with 1000 or 1500.
Wipe it down with prep sol. Now it's time for you base coat clear coat. You do not need a flex agent for base coat clear coat. Spray a few coats of base when dry or how ever long the tech sheets say to wait for clear. Lay down a few coats for clear. Make sure to follow the tech sheet specs. Then when dry
yo can wet sand it down to get any dust that may have feel on it when clearing. Then buff out. I do it by hand. Should take to long to get the shine back. The product I have used is valspar base coat clear coat. You can find it in kits which comes with that hardner and reducer.
I have only done one, and wasn't so sure how this would hold up. So when I was done I twisted and bent the plastic and nothing. Not a scratch or chip or crack. Now if you would bend it in half you might get it to crack, but then it may be hard to do. this has been done over a year ago and it still looks like it did the day I did it. Can't believe it I thought for sure after some tuff rides it would get damage,
but not yet. Hope this helps ya. oh the one thing I didn't do and should of is ad some stuff for fish eye.
I spent hours cleaning the plastic, but this one little spot just wouldn't go away.
