Do i have to put an override tranny on my 10mm im about to start building. Is there any other route?

a override will just eliminate you having to use the clutch while shifting , a override will force you to come to a complete stop to downshift, unless you run a " duneable Override " . I run a stock tranny in my shee with a rz 2nd gear .

thanks chase for the info. I really didn't want to go with the override but what does the 2nd RZ gear accomplish? intrested

the second gear rz shit , is supposbly able to withstand way more HP.... and i launch in 2nd so i figure it was a good way to get since the bottom wend was open . " unbreakable " who knows if its breakable but i havent given her hell yet . Nonetheless if you are in the bottom end and you are putting a 10 mill in , do upgrade your 2nd gear... i read somewhere that the stock 2nd gear was good up to 100hp before you really push the limits ?! if its true or not ??? i just bought it because it was a reasonable price.

what are you building the 10mill for?? cause I know most of the banshees I have rode with high hp and no over ride shift like shit!!! miss shift and just plain dont shift at all!!! I went to the dunable 2-5 on my cub and I love it!! would not go back!!

go with a duneable override. ive got a 2-4 on my 10mm cub and its great. i can shift up and down no clutch or with the clutch. you dont need an aftermarket 2nd gear. straight cut gears for the clutch basket is recommended but if you dont at least use 2 clips on the clutch side crank bearing. youre prolly gonna need a lockup too..

if your dragging then i would go with at the least a 2-5 override with a lock up.. but depending on what your actually going to be using it for then it may be easier to just keep the standard trans..

i havent heard of many people breaking 2nd gear in the stock trans.. there are things like billet 2nd gears that you may want to look into if you plan on launching in 2nd all the time.. though 1st gear starts only depend on if you are planning to launch in that gear or not..

wcr did mine, sells them on ebay all the time, mine was 350.00 shipped. if you are gonna race ashfault I would get a 1-5 so you can put big sprockets on it and launch in first. your call though

IF your going to drag race on sand or the strip you will lose about 3 or 4 bike lengths without the overide. I don't care how good at shifting.

You are damn right!! I consider myself pretty good, not great, not a beginner...and I still miss shifts or it flat out won't shift period on my stock tranny.

I'm going to get the 1-5 dunable with neutral down on my bike very, very soon.

I too launch in 2nd, with 14/42 gearing and 21 inch, 72 RO rear paddles. I tried 15 up front and launching in 1st, didn't like it at all.

I agree the straight cut gears are a good idea on a 10mil, but...2nd gear stock should be ok.

Look at the second gear from A&S as well as Grand River racing, too. Not sure who has the best price...
