broke Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 I'm stripping a motor that seems to have alot of case work done to it and bumped in to these. I have seen the inside of a lot of motors and don't remeber seeing these. Disregard this if I'm just being an idiot. Quote
dajogejr Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 Don't remember when I took mine apart, but...it looks like oil galleries for the gear shafts.... At least Uncle Fred didn't do that with his dremel tool, they look factory or professionally redone... Quote
racer Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 broke, i dont remember seeing those either, but they are some nice looking work. Quote
[email protected] Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 i just stripped a motor too and didnt see those Quote
broke Posted August 7, 2006 Author Report Posted August 7, 2006 I agree that it looks like very nice work. These cases have the tranfers opened up nicely also, so whoever did this work seemed to know what they were doing. I just have never seen this before and was curious what advantage it had if it wasn't factory. Quote
RATBIKE0130 Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 My take... Those holes are for lubing the end of the shift cam. The end just rotates in the case with no bushing or bearing to help support it. Yakki designs makes a shift cam with a bearing on the outer end but is expensive. Not worth the cost but does prevent any case wear from shifting. It looks like someone added a bushing in there as well. I would keep those cases as spares. Quote

Actually there is a needle bearing in there now, not a bushing. I think this may be the base for my next motor. Quote
NYUK Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 definitly not stock, person that ported the cases added them as an extra lube insurance policy. Quote

No, it's not stock now that I look at it more. It seems like alot of work for something nobody really complains about. They bike did shift nice, pretty close to as well as mine with RZ forks. I'm glad I didn't put these on Ebay with out close inspection. Quote
locogato11283 Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 never seen any of those before but they look neato!! Quote
BigRed350x Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 I've seen it done before, not that many of them in one spot, but I've seen it. A friend bought some cases off ebay done for a 7mil and they had 3 holes like that in the same spot. Quote
