BansheeRider71 Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 I never did get it either because they are alowed to sell 2-stroke dirt bikes and the hippies never said anything about it, but the second a banshee or 250R gets fired up they whine and cry about it, I think its stupid, If a YZ 250 leaves the lot not a word is said . I dont think it emissions at all I think its like Hell Driver said Yamaha is too lazy to update the Banshee, but then again they never really needed to because there was never a quad that could hang with it . DirtyFitz Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 Agreed Liqued, Everyone wants to gas and go. Only us real enthusiast could care less about the extra 10 seconds it takes to drop some oil and shake. Quote
rebelbanshee2 Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 In order for the banshee to still be sold like 2 stroke MX bikes it would have to designated for closed course racing only. no lights, or spark arrestors, and wont be allowed on alot of state land. Quote
KlotzBanshee Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 It does kinda suck, but a 20 year run is damn impressive for any machine. I honestly don't care that much, I've already got mine, so as long as there remains to be an aftermarket for parts available. Look at 250R's. I've seen some nicely restored ones selling for twice the price of them when they were new. You watch, five years from now Banshee's will be a hot commodity in the ATV world b/c they will be harder to come by. I don't know about you guys, but I'm hanging on to mine. Long live the king Quote
flipcarre Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 I agree with liqued, most people (i was once this gue) wanna get a 4-stroke put gas in it and go. But i looked at it for the extra 10 secs maybe less that it takes to mix the gas is worth having a legend to ride with. No other quad will EVER replace the banshee, even if Yamaha comes out with a new and improved Banshee it will never be like it was, NUFF SAID! Quote
LiftdT4R Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 when the ski-doo 800 came out it passed the new 06 emmisions rule...the 4 stroke RX-1 didnt. Im sure it does now though. Absolute BS that the EPA, made up of unelected beaurocrats can make laws regarding off highway vehicles. George Washington led an army because of something like that... hell yeah, you know washington rode a banshee. seriously though, 2 strokes are slowly going to be phased out, look at jetskis and snow mobiles, unfortunate, but no one wants to ix, and the eco-nazis hate the pollution. rx7500hpt2 Posted August 9, 2006 Report Posted August 9, 2006 i work at a dealer and havent seen but one since ive been there since 04. they just dont sell man. we will gladly order you one, or would. but stocking them just isnt practical. I agree its not just the epa clamping down on 2 strokes. Ive been around alot of dealers lately and they all say demand for 2 strokes is going down pretty quick. I was mainly asking about bikes though, because I'm thinking on trading up to a 450, can't keep up with my 450 buddys on my cr250. As far as banshees a few dealers didn't even have one on the lot.
