I think It is like that because of the dual carburetor setup. Maybe you can get lighter springs in the carbs. YOu can also buy a thumb throttle extender but I heard they sometimes get in the way Quote
KlotzBanshee Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 play lots of video games! J/K try a new cable first. If that doesn't work, buy an aftermarket thumb or twist throttle. Quote
ssanddemon Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 You can remove the spring from the thumber assy. and cut 2 coils off on each of the carb slide springs. This will still allow the throttle to return normally but will lessen throttle stiffness by about half. And yes, extensions (or better yet, the Cascade lever) help a lot. Quote
Ruko Posted May 20, 2006 Report Posted May 20, 2006 There was a thread on here a while ago about using a Honda 400ex thumb throttle. He used a fish scale to measure the pull and it was way less with the Honda throttle. Different leverage or something. Anyway I got one off e-bay for cheap and tried it and it does make a big difference. My thumb doesn't get sore at all anymore. Quote
steveodo Posted May 20, 2006 Report Posted May 20, 2006 The twist is always a nice option to have Quote
ssanddemon Posted May 20, 2006 Report Posted May 20, 2006 The twist is always a nice option to have 518372[/snapback] I like my twist, but I'd never let a newbie ride with one. Even experienced riders have gotten hurt with em. Quote
mikestudley1 Posted May 21, 2006 Author Report Posted May 21, 2006 thanks... ive riden quads with twist throttle and i hated it... but ill have to try cutting the springs in my carbs because i have had problems with 1 of them before because i kept getting bound up inside... i bent it back into shape.. sort of.... and called it good so ill just cut a couple off thanks again Quote
cdwood37 Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 I would just cut a couple of coils off the carb springs. I just got two new 35mm airstrykers and the thumbe throttle was so much harder to push than stock. Quote
