BKOLFO4 Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 But do you use loctite when you reinstall? Do you re-torque with an impact? My flywheel nut backed off tonight while I was doing my second heat cycle of break in. Scared the crap out of me. Thought I had just lost my fresh rebuild. Lucky for me the nut did not come all the way off before the flywheel let loose. Nothing is broken, and it started right back up after I put it backk in place. . . Thanks! Brian Quote

thegroup Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 just impact it on there and call it good. thats what ive always done and no probs yet Quote
sheefreak Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 It won't hurt anything to use lock-tite, I did. Just use the blue. I have had the flywheel come off after torquing it correctly before. Quote
bansheeseat$$ Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 (edited) I will agree with sheefreak on the blue lock-tite and if you are using a +4 degree key be aware I've broke two +4 degree keys.I would defenetly get a timing plate.Just my .02 cents. Edited May 7, 2006 by bansheeseat$$ Quote
Shee-Male Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 If you blast it with the impact it souldn't come off ever, it is on a taper seat afterall, I also use blue loctite religiously, every banshee owner should Quote
cdwood37 Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 LOCTITE is a good option but i would just put it on with an impact and it is a tapered fit so if you get it tight it should never come off if you are worried about it use loctite red, you will have to take the nut off with an impact anyways so just whatever makes you feel same. IMO just impact the crap out of it and call it good. Quote
DIRTMAN350 Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 Timing plate and impact and call it good. No prob's here. Quote
BKOLFO4 Posted May 8, 2006 Author Report Posted May 8, 2006 Impact tonight. I had the neighbor do it, as he rebuilds his Honda shifter cart motor continuously. . . I have standard key with a modified stock timing plate. Thanks guys! Brian Quote
