DonnG03shee Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Trash the "CHEETAH" and go with the "CUBS" and 4mil. Problem solved! Quote
racer Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Trash the "CHEETAH" and go with the "CUBS" and 4mil. Problem solved! 513526[/snapback] i believe that is irrelevant. vitos maybe did a hack job weld? i dont wanna believe cause they have been good peoples to me. maybe just a factory lemon from hotrods. that doesnt seem like a wild story where you dropped the clutch at 15000000 rpm with the tires burried in concrete, so i dont really have any other explanation. Animalman294 Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 Ya, I read on here that some people are having problems with the Hot Rods cranks not holding up. I also talked to a couple of builder's and they agreed, but that was a while back so they may have solved the problem now. Just to be safe I would check into more before I bought one. I haven't heard of this happening with Wiesco cranks...............Just my .02 Quote
speedfr3ak Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 Ok. 1. Last I knew Vito's didn't sell hot rods cranks. 2. Cheetahs flow way more than cubs. 3. Hot Rods and Wiseco are the same cranks. My roomate had a vitos crank. Had... It was not a hot rods crank. Supposed to be welded but wasn't. Didn't have hd bearings anywhere. Vito's stuff seems like the junk. Quote
batoutofshell Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 Wiseco makes the Hotrod cranks, I called for repairs they put me through to the wiseco phoneline.l Quote
Machwon Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 Most of those cranks should have been gone by now. All cranks are pretty much made by the same people as I understand it. I've had three break for customers all of which had to be repaired. Most of them broke within 3-5 tanks of gas. Vito's will likely repair it for you if you have the receipt. But man that bad batch of cranks was well over 12-months ago. That's a long way out from a point of sale for a warranty. The problem was on the flywheel side, like a 1000 cranks were machined without a fillet on that side that caused a stress point so they snapped. I've had this issue with both stockers and 4 mills. hellride96 Posted May 14, 2006 Author Report Posted May 14, 2006 the reason that donnG said trash the cheetha cylinders and go with the cubs is because he is my older brother and he is just giving me shit about my quad being down right now. he just got his put back together with cubs and a 4mil and its running very strong, so he figures he is running stronger than me. but i do thank you guys for the info, but all i can do now instead of worrying about WHAT happened is just to fix it bigger and better and go on. JasonGOSU Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 My crank broke in the same spot. I rode my 4mm for about a year before it broke. The builder I bought it from stopped buying from Wiseco, said they wouldn't fix the cranks. Luckily he's fixing mine as we speak. Quote
