Banshee Gorilla 06 Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 Ok i just bought My first SHEE brand new.so far i have only cut the front fenders and turnd the rear wheels around to make it wider,oh and took off all the Saftey stickers.Anyway i only run the bike on the Dunes and some open trails never going to see any mud i hope. What i want to know is with out spending any money can i cut the air box to let in some more air and where do i cut it at,i know i will need to re jet it a little after i do this but that is an expence i can handle.i am still running stock Pipes. I love the site hope to get a pic of my SHEE on here soon Quote
sandman Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 You can cut holes in the lid, remove the snorkel or replace your stock filter with a k&n with an adapter plate which will allow you to remove the lid altogether. Whatever you decide to do DO NOT REMOVE THE LID WHILE USING THE STOCK FILTER. The lid holds the filter in place. Congratulations on the new purchase. You'll love that bike fore ver. Quote
DIRTMAN350 Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 Welcome aboard. Once the process starts it never ends. Long Live the Banshee. Quote
thegroup Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 ur best bet would be go with K&N Filter with the adaptor(sp). go to modquad.com and type in "bansheehq123" and ull get a discount and welcome to a craze that will never end Quote
Banshee Gorilla 06 Posted May 2, 2006 Author Report Posted May 2, 2006 Thanks for the response i think i will cut the lid for now but it wont be long before i cant stand it and dump money in the K&N filter and adapter, then start from there with all the GOOD STUFF. Thanks Again Quote
biggun6ss Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 If you are never going to see any mud then I would just get some K&N clamp on filters. I got the kit from magic racing and it came with the filters, outerwares, and bottle relocater for 89 bucks I think. It makes it a lot easier to change jets and looks good also Quote
Chemical Castration Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 You should get the adapter plate and new filter before doing any mods to your air box (aside from removing the snorkel.) The stock filter setup is EXTREMELY shitty. My carb slides got stuck on me while riding in glamis on T-Day. I almost crashed into a family on 4th gear WOT. Just dig under your couch cushions raid the car and get whatever cash you can to buy that filter setup. Quote
Bansh88 Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 wait till you get a few bucks and buy the dual K&Ns that bolt right to the carbs. get rid of the whole airbox. OR, if you come acroos a little more cash, Buy the Trinity 2 into 1 carb. It eleminates, airbox, filter, old carbs, TORS and you have one hell of a clean and simple setup in there! Quote
