quadracer22 Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Hey guys, just found this site today and it looks really good. i own a 04 450r and have been really interested in the banshee's lately. im thinkin about buying one or even trading my 450r for one. but first i want to know a little more about them. i do mostly trail riding, is the banshee good for that kind of riding? how often do they need to be rebuilt and is it hard to do? are they hard to maintain? would i be better off just keeping my 450r? if anyone has any suggestions or can answer these questions it would be very much appreciated. Dinner Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Welcome to the HQ You can make your Banshee do what ever you want it to do, a lot of my friends say, well they're too hard to maintain, take too much work. I just tell them thats because they dont know anything about 2 strokes so it seems hard I find my banshee really easy to maintain, as long as you know what you are doing. Rebuilds are pretty easy to do yourself, especially top-ends Quote
Polish Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 (edited) I dont even know where to start on a 4-Stroke.....cam, Valves, Ect ect............2-strokes are a piece of cake.............I have ridden 4-strokes MX, and Quads..........well I just cant make the switch boys (YET)........I like 2-strokes especially the clutch action WELCOME TO THE HQ Edited April 16, 2006 by Polish Quote
quadracer22 Posted April 16, 2006 Author Report Posted April 16, 2006 Thanks for the replys guys, can anyone else give me some info? Quote
PolyKarbon Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 4 strokes need maintaining too, and eventually they too will need work done. I'd rather do a top end rebuild myself every few years or so, then to shell out a lot more money to have a 4 stroke put in the shop. Banshees are easy to maintain, cheap to fix, can be modded to do whatever the hell you want it to, has a HUGE aftermarket following, etc etc... Quote
quadracer22 Posted April 17, 2006 Author Report Posted April 17, 2006 do you have to mix the oil and gas yourself or is there a separate oil tank you put the oil in? i'm tellin ya guys, im extremely new to the banshee i've rode 4-strokes all my life lol Quote
icecold_shee Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 yes, you mix the gas yourself, most ppl mix 32:1, dont be cheap on the oil either, go with some klotz Quote

Dead Op Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 I tell yeeah, my buddy has a 04 YFZ 450. We ride fairly hard, lot of hill climbing and jumping. He has had 5x's more problems with his YFZ than I had, this mainly with his eletrical system. He sold his o3 becauase he had problems with it too! I tried to convine him to buy a Banshee, yet he goes, "No way too much work!" Im just tust thinking to myself wtf Quote
Soupbox660 Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 Definition of Banshee: Super Fast, Easy to Rebuild and Maintain, Super Fun, Unlimited Modifications, No one can touch its power. I've said it before and I'll say it again, there is no catching a modded Banshee Quote
batoutofshell Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 Welcome to the HQ and get ready to stick the needle in cause a Banshee is like heroin. Once addicted you can't stop and it will bleed you dry.Thats the fun part!! Quote
