I am thinking about getting cubs and would like to know what size swingarm people are running, and what they mostly do with there Shee's. What type of riding do you do? I was going to go with a +4, but recent information is telling me to go with a +6 for the turtle factor (roll over). I mostly do sand, loggin' roads, and gravel quarries. Let me know what you are running. Thanks for the info............

I am gonna run a plus three i am building a 421 cub also, The only thing you start to run into is strength. The longer you swingarm is the easier it will be to bend or in some way get tweaked. It all depends on the kind of riding you are doing mostly drag and sand not much jumping then a plus six is great, otherwise a plus 4 is the max i would go.

dont know why everyone is building a full on drag motor to not drag it. why not just have your stockers ported for the type of rideing you do?? I have a +8 on my 421 and it is a handfull if you are not sitting on the tank, I plan on going to a 10 over real soon cause I am tired of fighting it. why do ya need 100hp to go tool around in the dunes and trails?? just to say you have it?? wast of money in my eyes.

just my two cents though do what ya want its your money!!

I don't need 100hp stump puller. I am thinking that a 4 mil cub setup with 35's Noss head, and reeds will be in the high 70's to mid 80's. I'm running t-5's not shearers, so it should be respectable to ride. I'm trying to find out what length of swinger to get. I was going to go with the +4, because for all around riding with this setup it would still corner good. I'm not just going in a straight line, but I wanted to know what other people were doing.

I don't want to be the fastest, just faster than most. I don't need to have a 500 horse cummins powered Dodge, but damn its fun when I find a testy Duramax or Powerpoke. You just need to adjust your riding style. I mean it is a progressive throttle, not an on/off switch or all or nothing situation. I mean it would be nice to ride a cub first, but I don't know anyone who has one in the Yuba City, CA area. Thanks for the input, it all helps...............

I'll tell you this from first hand experience...a +4 swingarm would be lethal with a cub engine. I rode Big Blue's banshee (he's got a 4 mil cub) and the powerband hit and you were gone! :bolt: He's running a +6 swingarm and is planning on going longer because it's hard to keep the front end down

I really don't think a cub would be ideal for the stuff you plan to ride...I agree with badassbanshee479, you would probably be better of getting your stock jugs ported for your riding, rather than spend all that money on an engine that's gonna be too much power, in my opinion. :shrugani:

My stock stroke drag ported 350 would really surprise you with how hard it pulls. Every time my friend hops on it he comes back with his eyes wide open and breathing hard/heart racing. It's a much cheaper and more practical solution to what you're trying to gain.

Anything more than +4 swinger will really suck for riding in anything other than sand, but +4 is pretty small for a cub motor in the sand if you have a lot of traction, like say 12 paddles.

i hillclimbed a 4mm cub motor last year with a =4 swinger and it was a handful at times. draggin in the sand forget it. id say +6 is as long as u can go without losing handling...if u dont plan on draggin a lot stick with a +4 or +6...
