midknight Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 What is the differences in all the pipes? I am looking for a dune pipe that makes really good power and hits hard but doesnt give up all the midrange! i have gone through the search over and over and it seems that grr, rockets and shearer are better than cpi but how do the three compare against each other... sound, power production, quality, fit and finish and price!!! has anyone ever done a write up on this or is it all opinion? wesw Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 if you want a pipe the will pull from about 6000 to what ever rpm go with shearers. cpi would be a second. i dont think grr has any inframes out, im sure there are some but not many. and dyno in my sig for some other info. Quote
locogato11283 Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 rockets or cpi are gonna have more bottom end and midrange than the shearers. shearers will make the most peak hp but the hit is very violent and you will give up some bottom end to the others. in a dyno test on one particular setup i had the rockets made power sooner and pulled longer than the cpi. but like i said, thats one particular setup. if you dont wanna sacrifice midrange and bottom end id say go with cpi, or rockets if u can find a set. i dont think GRR is makin their inframe yet, but someone may know more about it... alcoholbanshee Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 GRR will make a set of inframes for you........just pick up the phone and make a call. Quote

I don't think Andy is advertising them right now, but I do remember him making a set or two and selling them on ebay. The GRR pipe, inframe or not, is gonna have a really strong hit when the powerband comes on and pulls like a freight train. My out of frames hit harder than any other pipe I personally have ever used or ridden with; I wouldn't necessarily call it a "dune" pipe; more or less a straight drag pipe Quote

bkabina Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 I thought he sold them already. What kind of work do you have done now? What are your future plans for work?Maybe none of these are your better choice. Quote
rocketboy Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 yes i did sell them to a member on here im probably getting these bad boys to replace them Quote
Ls7colorado Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 yea there sold and DAMN they do hit hard! Even on my stock motor. Quote
prichard9966 Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 i tried to run shearer's. i tried two sets both hit my frame and head. the right side fit fine. the left side was just awful. ended up getting cpi's. the fit and finish was a thousand times better. the chrome on the shearer's sucks. they might pull like a mother but i will never know. Hilarious Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 ^ Just curious, but where did you get your CPI's, prichard9966? The finish on mine isnt all that great. As a matter of fact, the chrome on the expansion chambers doesnt look any better than whats on my fatties. And the silencers, they arent all that impressive looking either. If they perform better than they look after I do all my engine stuff, I'll gladly STFU about the finish. Quote
prichard9966 Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 i got my cpi's through passion racing. the chrome on mine is real decent. i'd have to believe you could find a set with a better finish than a fatty. it's a shame all pipes can't have the fit and finish of the toomey's. you will like your cpi's performance anyway. my buddy just got a set of out of frame shearers and they hit his frame too.
