motoboy17us2007
I want to upgrade me shee and I heard that a degree key was a cheap significant upgrade. But what do I want to go with with my mods and pump gas???
banshdog
If all your mods are listed in your sig, you should be fine with just advancing the timing. Also, many say that you should use an adjustable timing plate rather than the key. some have had their keys shear. personally i had the key for a year with no problems and switched to the plate later. sheefreak
Only $40 for a RS adjustable mounting plate, might as well spend the extra $20 for insurance, and you may want to go more down the road. PM FASTOYS, I'm sure he'll be happy to send you one.
banshee tuner
I've had a degree key for 4 years with no problems, but I have seen them shear on blasters. The key is 25 and adjustable timing plate is 35 so I would buy the plate.
BigRed350x
The plate is the way to go. You can crank it up a little more or retard it in the fiture with the plate. You could also mod your stock one for free. I modded mine and noticed a pretty good dif. I will mod your stock one for you for free, if you just pay shipping. BigE22188
on the timing plates do yuo know what you should set it to or do yuo have to play around with it and keep pulling the fly wheel off ?

Also might need a flywheel puller which you could get at the same time!
2003LimitedBanshee
on the timing plates do yuo know what you should set it to or do yuo have to play around with it and keep pulling the fly wheel off ? 478727[/snapback] Most people will run 2-4 degrees advance on a stock port. With a more aggressive port I've heard of guys running as much as 7-8 degrees advance. I personally cut in some Trick 116 race fuel for running 4 degrees just to be on the safe side. The plates are adjustable without removing the flywheel.
BigE22188
that helps alot 2003LimitedBanshee.... so with pipes and stock port about 2-4 degrees would be god ... and how does that increase the power
FadedDreams
I've had the key for probably 3 years or so and never had any problems with it.One thing i did notice when i had my flywheel off,is the key does have some marks on it like it was hitting somewhere. Its still useable, but i'm going back to the stock key and getting the RS plate just to be safe. 2003LimitedBanshee
I've haven't run both setups on a dyno to see, but somebody probably has. I believe the bench racing puts it at about 2-3 HP, but I can't say I've measured it personally. It is definitely noticeable, and well worth the $35 dollars. Polish
I paid ten bucks for mine and it is worth every penny...........but if I had to do it again I would get the plate for $30.00 more
