MYquadsFaster Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 i live on commerce lake in michigan and i was just wondering about something....someone told me that if a four wheeler fell through the ice it would not sink....only flip upside down and float by the tires. does anyone have any proof that this would actually happen my neighbor said he seen it happen once before on our lake any opinions? warwgn Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 get some scuba gear, your going to the bottom! Quote
PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 I've never checked to see if it would just float but when I used to ride our sportsman when all my buds had 4x4's we spent alot of time in waist deep water or deeper and as long as we kept the wheels turning it would float it's way over the deeper holes. I don't think I'd dare try that with the shee though that's stuff for slow wheelers. You should just hydroplane across the top. Quote
MYquadsFaster Posted February 23, 2006 Author Report Posted February 23, 2006 i wouldnt think that it would float right side up because of the weight but if it flipped upside down i know things are lighter underwater so it might work...i had a close call the other day thats why im wondering....luckily it was only 4 feet where i fell through and the front of the quad stayed on top of the ice while the back was on the ground underwater. it was realy easy to lift out so i think it is possible to float upside down. hopefully someone on here has proof that it does or doesnt Quote
Wallrat Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 I had an old Yamaha Moto 4 as a kid and while riding it across a stream I hit a really deep section. Engine died immediately so I got off. As I did so the fucker bobbed up to the surface (right side up) and started floating away downstream. So ya at least some quads will float. Dunno bout all of em. . Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 you aint gettin a banshee to float.....I know it for a fact....unless you but some really really big balloon tires on it though. I did however have a 185s threewheeler that would float on water....was pretty cool, if the water got to deep, I'd just get off and use the throttle to spin across the water till I could get back on again Quote
stuntmasta3o5 Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 I know this is off topic.. But have you seen quads "ride on water"? I think it was on some Huevos video or something that showed a banshee literally skiing on the water... Anyone know what I'm talking about? Quote

Later that day we went riding and he broke throw the ice on a pond and his did flip over and was just floating there! no bs it was funy as shit Quote

Hit it fast 5th-6th and sit back as far as you can or your front wheels will send you tumbling. Quote
NYUK Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 i know a warrior, 400ex and blasters float, i have seen it with my own eyes, when the water is deep enough, they flip upside down and the tires float. Quote
Chad Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 I used to have a 300ex (I know I know, shutup) and I've made it float a couple times, haven't found out with my banshee, and don't wanna find out. Quote
DOWNSOUTH Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 I ran out or road one day on my bongabeer ds650 went right in to a canal & it floated upside down. Quote
biggun6ss Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 I had a buddy with an old moto 4. When we had to cross a deep creek we got off and it floated across just fine. Quote
stuntmasta3o5 Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Well that solves it right there.. If a DS650 floats.. anything on wheels could float.. Quote
