823REDHORSE Posted February 20, 2006 Report Posted February 20, 2006 first off i want to say sorry so long but i want to try to tell all i have a 1999 stock, i just put pro circuits, jets 300, third ring on new needle,v-force 3,boost bootle, and uni filter. my problem is i rode it the other day for about 2 hours run like a top out running modded honda 450r, then all the sudden it started bogging on the top end and i noticed that the right side pipe was cool. so i put it on the truck and went home well the next day i went out to hopefully fix the problem but it wont start. i checked compression 120psi on both sides. checked spark good on both. so i got a spray bottle pulled air cleaner out sprayed fuel in the carbs and she started and run but only the left side blow a little smoke and pressure against hand nothing on right side except while squirting fuel in air box. took right side carb off and cleaned main jet it had some dirt in it but still the same thing so any help would be REALLY HELPFUL!!!!! sheefreak Posted February 20, 2006 Report Posted February 20, 2006 I know it sounds crazy, but make sure packing in the silencers haven't come loose and clog it up, I have seen it happen. Quote
adrenilinjunki Posted February 20, 2006 Report Posted February 20, 2006 dont know if it could cause yor problem but ive seen vforce reeds colaps ito the cage on snomobiles Quote
823REDHORSE Posted February 20, 2006 Author Report Posted February 20, 2006 if i squirt gas in the carg it runs and blows exhaust against my hand so i dont think its silencers and if it was reeds would it run by squirting fuel in the carb? Quote
ellison445 Posted February 20, 2006 Report Posted February 20, 2006 Im having trouble reading your question Has there been a drastic change in temps? Whats your elevation? When was the last time you cleaned your airfilter? I would clean the carbs and filter and go from there. sounds like dirty carbs to me if i squirt gas in the carg it runs and blows exhaust against my hand so i dont think its silencers and if it was reeds would it run by squirting fuel in the carb? 476396[/snapback] Quote
823REDHORSE Posted February 20, 2006 Author Report Posted February 20, 2006 i cleaned main jet only in the right carb. the left pipe gets hot and the right doesnt except if i put fuel in the back of the carb where the air filter goes. and that is the only way it will start also elevation is almost sea level i live in nw florida Quote
Fastrat Posted February 20, 2006 Report Posted February 20, 2006 May sound stupid, but is fuel flowing into the right carb bowl? If it is, is the float set right? Quote
Banshee~ Posted February 20, 2006 Report Posted February 20, 2006 (edited) Please take a little more time while your typing, so people can read it. I still dont know half of what you said. Ok, what have to done for your airbox besides an airfilter? Have you taken the snorkel or lid off? I would completely clean out both carbs, clean airfilter, and then get a in-line fuel filter (catches all the trash in your gas). You might put in a new plug on the right side also, because it might be fouled. Also, is your choke tube still running between the carbs? That might cause the carbs to act up. blackandyellowshee Posted February 20, 2006 Report Posted February 20, 2006 Almost sounds like the same problem as me Does the right side run with the choke on? Quote
BakoBanshee Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 As I suggested to blackandyellow, Pull off the fuel line from the right side carb and see if there is sufficient flow. If thats not it, try unplugging the little black box above your left pipe under the gas tank and see how it runs with it unplugged. Quote
823REDHORSE Posted February 21, 2006 Author Report Posted February 21, 2006 sorry for confusion but i came straight in from working on it and was so pissed off that when i typed it came out all wrong i dont even understand either!! it gets plenty of fuel to the carb and i never touched the float choke tube on the snorkel is off thats it new plugs i just cleaned both carbs and it will start on its own now but the left side pipe blows crazy smoke and the right really only seems to run at high rpm's and the right side pipe barely gets warm remember it ran great for about 2 hours after install of new parts then just started acting foolish the black box has been unplugged BLACKANDYELLOWSHEE now that you mentioned it i think it did seem to hit a little better with choke on Quote
Bansheeman1121 Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 You dint metion u changed the plugs so... YOU NEED NEW PLUGS and she will run like a top once again. If its fouling plugs alot more since u made changes u jetted her a bit rich. Quote
banshdog Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 Maybe put in bigger pilot jets.....27.5? I replaced mine with 30's. My setup is in my sig, have stock carbs with 320 mains. runs great, and Im right around sea level too. Quote
823REDHORSE Posted February 23, 2006 Author Report Posted February 23, 2006 well guys i put new plugs in it the day it started this and i run her pretty hard the whole time. so i just figured that it wouldnt need any but i guess it could. would it be possible to foul them that quick? they look fine. they are clean, but i will try new ones. the reason i didnt put new ones in it was cause they look so good Quote
Wallrat Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Switch spark plug wires to see if the problem switches sides. If it doesn't I'd check the reeds to make sure they're still all together like they should be. Quote
