lastlegwarrior Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 I was just wondering if i need to upgrade my needles, so i was wondering who was running stock needles? My mods are as listed in my signature, i've been running stock needles so far without any problems, but with the addition of a port and reeds i didnt' really know if i should upgrade. I've been told either way is fine, but i need some opinions/knowledge/experience with this. I just really hate to pay like $50 bucks for needles that i really don't need if my stock ones are fine. thanks for the advice in advance. Quote
1.6i Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 (edited) im running stock needls, moved one clip... just have T5's and clamp on dual K&N's though Edited February 17, 2006 by 1.6i Quote
FIRST BANSHEE Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 they offer a little more tunability in the middle. I woyld try the stock ones first, if they work fine keep them . Quote
sand rocket Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 I have both stock needles and Dyno jet needles. Ran both. Higher altitudes the dyno jet needles worked better for me, there longer and fatter. But like stated above, try the stock ones first. Why spend the coin on them it you dont need them. Quote
knight_ripper Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 I couldnt get mine running right. ended up buying some new MOOSE needles and BAM HEADSHOT!....oh wait wrong timing.....BAM worked great. Something about new needles having a finer tip, than stockies. something like that. im sure others will chime in. Quote
badbanshee01 Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 I'd stick with the stock neeldes unless it wont run right Quote
Wicked98Shee Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 stock needles are fine unless ya can't get the mid tuned right, then i'd opt for some aftermarket needles Quote
dajogejr Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 Why pay 50? I've used the stock and Toomey (Dynojet) needles, didn't notice much of a difference if at all. I just didn't feel like taking the dyno needles out so I left 'em in... You can get the whole "Toomey" Jet kit from Magic Racing, brand new...for 29.99 http://www.magicracing.com/product.asp?itemid=1340&catid=364 When I called Toomey and spoke to Stuart Toomey himself, if you were to buy the needles alone from Toomey direct they would cost you more than this.... The 270 and 280 main jet sets they come with are only worth a few bucks, at most...you're paying for the needles, period... Quote
Shee-Male Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 I've run stock with no prob's, even with bored carbs, seem to have lots of adjustability. Quote
