what weight oil like 30 weight or 40 weight?? what brand

I generally use a Mobil 1 synthetic 10-40 to a 15-50. I would stay away from you car oils around 10-30 weights. They generally are energy conserving and have moly additives which will cause your fibers to slip. Check the API service labels on the bottle and they will say energy conserving if the additives are present.

1500ml's, 50oz's or approx 1.6 qt's. Yea I use the mobil 1 15-50 racing oil, I just pick it up at Wal-mart for around 5 dollars a qt.

Now, I've heard that the friction modifiers in synthetic engine oil bonds to the clutch plates and makes them slip. So I don't use synthetic oil in my tranny for that reason alone. My clutch slips enough as it is! I use the cheapest crude oil I can find. Like the walmart brand 89 cents a quart 10w40 oil. Nothing like running dead dino's in your tranny and a 3 dollar oil change! But I blew my tranny up and smoked the shit out of my clutch. Then again I don'tr baby my machine. It's good to change your tranny oil after every race. But I'm lazy and I don't change it until it's black from clutch fibers...usually every month. So burning 2 bucks on a quart of "specialy formulated" tranny lube gets a bit expensive. Now I've also heard of people running Dextron/Mercon III in their trannies with much luck. But you can't beat the walmart special for the price.

If you use ATF, use type F. The dexron, mercon stuff can make the clutch slip.

Ive been using ATF for awhile now. Currently trying the Valvoline type FA right now.

I've used ATF in my KX125 and just talking from the shifting end it definitely feels smoother and less notchy. To all of you that use it, do you think if it is changed frequently that it offers good enough lubrication/protection. I wouldn't mind trying it in the Shee too, but don't want to run the risk of killing the tranny or clutch.

bellray gear saver...80wt

This is the good stuff, don't let the 80 wt fool you it's similar to automotive 30 weight, but is designed specificaly to allow your clutch to work and protect your gears.

Others have used regular ATF fine but it must be changed very frequently like every trip or maybe even more than once per trip to gaurantee protection depending on how much you ride. It is generaly missing an adative that helps with the wet clutch so it wears out faster. (at least thats what I have read) I don't care about spending the extra $1.50 a quart when changing my oil and I don't have to worry about changing it every trip either.

I have had great luck with BellRay Gear saver. I noticed a large improvement over Golden spectro's 80 weight oil. My clutch would start slipping very slightly every so often after more than 1 trip on thr golden spectro, and I have not had a problem since on the BellRay, I change it every 3-4 trips to the dunes, but I would probably go longer without a problem. The BellRay looked much thicker and I kept hearing about losing HP if you use thicker oil, however I mis shift less and feel it offers better protection, so well worth it IMO. It's also cheaper than I was getting the spectro for also.

I took the banshee out for at least 1 trip a the end of the season, possibly 2-3 trips and when I changed the oil, and it still looked like new.
