JET 99 Posted December 4, 2005 Report Posted December 4, 2005 I dont want ya to think is was bitchin they do sell stuff to pour in the mix on flea bay but i dont know what it does if anything to the carb or cyl shuch as build up varnish or octane level. mine smokes just like you said when it is cold. check level of coolant in the radiatorbefore and after riding. let it cool down of course. leaking gasket aint good on it. ElDiablo52 Posted December 4, 2005 Report Posted December 4, 2005 Summit racing sells that stuff, its made mostly for alcohol to tame the smell and affects, but it works well in gas to and is very strong, they carry like 20 different sents and its only a few bucks a bottle and treats I think 30 gal of gas or 50 gal of alcohol. I know some people that run it and havent had any problems, and if your worried about deposits then I wouldnt listen to the other guys that say to run 927, itll gunk your top end up pretty bad if you dont tear your top end down and clean it inbetween rebuilds. And on filters I would stay away from the toomey 2 into 1 its junk and is I tight fit, but ya better replace it before you suck a chunk of that thing into your motor or worse a chunk of dirt or something. Wallrat Posted December 4, 2005 Report Posted December 4, 2005 I ran the 2:1 for quite awhile and the fit was excellent. They offset the UNI filter so you just rotate it until its centered between the pipes. Maybe the older versions didn't have the offset? I have more issues with my clamp ons. I have a big ass ziptie pulling them together so they won't hit the pipes. Problem is that causes the outerwears to rub together and make holes. Quote
Hilarious Posted December 4, 2005 Report Posted December 4, 2005 All you guys runnin 927 and gettin laid........tell me what I'm doin wrong. I been runnin the 927 for a long while and all I'm gettin is the I like the smell of the 927 too but. tell me......am I the only one that thinks it smells a little like bbq? Quote
Wallrat Posted December 4, 2005 Report Posted December 4, 2005 am I the only onethat thinks it smells a little like bbq? Smells like sex to me! Quote
yammerhammer98 Posted December 4, 2005 Report Posted December 4, 2005 The smell of 2-stroke oil is the best reason to run in second place! Castor bean oil and 100 octane race fuel is kinda like Old Spice; a little outdated, but better than smellin' like a French whore. I agree with the rest of the gang. If you don't like the smell of 2-stroke oil, you're probably in the wrong sport. Quote
Banchetta Posted December 4, 2005 Report Posted December 4, 2005 Stock pipes have a tendency to smoke a lot more than aftermarket pipes. They have alot more baffles inside that get oiled up and constantly burning up all the time...My first suggestion would be to get a K&N filter w/ the aluminum adaptor. If not, then you'll be sucking sand into the motor and you'll be replacing the pistons in less than a year....For 90 bucks, money well spent. Best insurance you can buy. Next, you can try running Amsoil. I'm still skeptical w/ the synthetic oils, but I know a few people that have been running amsoil @80:1 mixture. Personally I run 40:1. Most likely your still running stock suggestion of 20:1. Way too rich. Finally, I'd suggest some aftermarket exhaust. That'll eliminate the smoke in half. Just be careful and do some research before ordering pipes...pipes are everything. Get the pipes for YOUR type of riding...it'll help put the power where YOU need it... Quote
98bonerSTOCKshee Posted December 4, 2005 Report Posted December 4, 2005 I always turn my gas valve off when parking. Let it idle til it runs out of gas (don't rev it out).. This helps keep the gas from just setting in the carb and the cylinders. You could just drain the carbs manually but I think burning it out is good... PS I love the 2 stroke smell...... Quote
banshee tuner Posted December 4, 2005 Report Posted December 4, 2005 Could be your oil, I've smelled some oils that smell like rotten eggs while burning. I used to have the same problem with the gas smell until I switched to cam2 leaded race fuel. The 93 unleaded was giving me the awful gas smell and headaches. Quote

No offense but I don't think you read my posts too well. If you had you'd have noticed like another poster you and him I think are the only ones that make up the "smell gang" This is my first atv, hell anything besides car or lawnmower. I've always wanted a banshee etc etc. Was basically a question on cutting back the stintch if it was possible. I thank everyone for there imput and tips and laughs but please stop spouting off stuff like you're in the wrong "sport" etc cause you don't like the smell of an oil, lol that's just goofy. thanks though part of your post did make me laugh. Hilarious Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 (edited) I'd suggest putting on a rain poncho or somthin when you ride. And look at your jetting and fuel mixture. Lookin at your screen name, are you located on the MS gulf coast? Edited December 5, 2005 by Hilarious Quote
