Locogato had a CR500 Banshee till he sold the engine. Cotton Eyed Joe is currently building a shee with an F4i sportbike engine. Some guy on the net built an R1 Banshee. That's all I can think of right now but yes its possible. I dunno that you'd be able to fit any sportbike engines without cutting the frame, but I think the CR500 fits in with some added motor mounts.

If your looking for alot more power that is reliable and good on gas, a street bike engine is your only option really. The CR 500's are powerful, im sure they are reliable, but i doubt they are great on gas, my RM 250 sure isnt, worse than my banshee. They put out insane power also, nothing will compare. Locogato on here has a raptor with a cbr 600 engine in it, and has a banshee with a CR 500 engine in it so he is the man you want to talk too.

i have ran against two banshees at the dirt drags ,one with a cbr600 engine in it and one with a gsxr engine in it and had no problem smoking both of them.imo i'd just stick with the shee motor.

With your mods listed my friend they must of lost :yank: because they could not get the traction, take it to a more dangerous setup, pave ment and you will only see there backs...

search out my name and you will find pics of my project shee... i havent worked on it in months. I plan on getting back to working on it. It is a ZX-7R engine in a Banshee Frame. The banshee frame isnt a good frame to start with because the Cylinder head and total engine height is so big, a bunch of modifications need to be done. CR500 motor would be cool... i know i seen one guy on here who had it. A snowmobile motor would be a fun ride. Snomobile's will do over 100 easy.

For the cost of going with a motorcycle motor. You could be the baddest shee motor.

i would say that for the time and money youll put into a motor swap you can build a very reliable banshee motor. streetbike motors make a different kind of power than banshees do and arent makin much if any power under 10,000 rpm. my raptor with cbr600rr motor makes about 40 ft pounds of torque and 110 hp. you wont make a streetbike motor fit in banshee frame very easily. youll end up cutting most of the stock frame off and building your own like cotton eyed joe has. as for cr500 motor that also makes different kind of power. its got power all across the board not a real peaky one like the banshee does. itl fit in banshee frame with some work. as for fuel consumption good luck with either. i can watch the gas run thru the lines on my 600rr raptor very quickly and the 500 is no better.
