thegoodkidwhomightlikebanshees Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 Approximately how many hours can you ride a stock shee before going to the next size piston which I think is 0.50 mm ? 1. If normal riding how many hours? 2. If normal and hard riding how many hours? 3. If hard riding how many hours? Quote
dawarriorman Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 1. 768,432.42 hours. 2. 641,956.23 hours. 3. 2 minutes. Hope that helps Quote

fast87 Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 these engines are known for being somewhat high maintenance, so live with it...and i'm not trying to be a smartass here but this could quite possibly win the most pointless question award, what are you trying to accomplish with an answer?? you woulden't be happy with a mathematical answer either, because A. it woulden't be long enough, or B. you think a 4 stroke is better... so go buy a 4 stroke and don't worry about it...but honestly there is no real answer to this question, and what will you GAIN with a "correct" answer?? if someone said that with easy 1/2 throttle MAX riding your engine lasts 246.897hrs, and you go exactly 1/2 throttle at the most just a few times, what will you do?? quit riding your bike and tear it down a few hours before it's "due" to "blow up"?? on the other hand, if you want reliability, ditch the stock cast pistons and buy some wiseco prolites(forged), they will last much longer IMO...also no porting or engine mods of any kind, because anytime you add more HP, you decrease the life span of the engine....oh yeah get your crank trued and welded, for that you must split the cases...IF by chance you already own a banshee, and don't have this, buy a clymers manual ASAP, it will help a great deal ~Mark~ Quote

Hopfully someone will give me an approximate answer such as 1. 800-1000 hours. 2. 600-800 hours. 3. 400-600 hours. Quote

bobbybonilla Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 Your asking a very broad question. There are so many variables that could matter in your situation. As long as your bike is jetted, fuel mixed right, not ridden past motors limit ex.holding wide open long periods of time, uneccesary over-revving, you could get at least a season out of the motor. In my opinion the stock cast pistons last much longer than the lighter forged wisecos, but the wisecos seem to make alittle bit more power. My bike is a 2000 and still on stock cast pistons, I have 21 cc coolhead and its makin 145lb psi in each cylinder, and starts just as nice and runs just as smooth as when I purchased the bike. I do not baby the bike, but on the other hand I try not to over work the motor constantly. I would say I ride the motor right to its limit consistently. I have had it for 3 years now, no troubles So you tell me how long will your bike last. Quote
2003LimitedBanshee Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 Have to agree with the others as to the ambiguity of any answer we could give. As bobbybonilla said, if all of your mods/tuning match your bike should run great for a long while. I bought my '03 with about 10 hrs on it, bone stock. Have since done a fair amount of bolt ons, and put probably 70+ hours on the bike. Still runs just as good (only faster) as my cousins new shee with under 20hrs. Even with porting, engine mods, you should still have an engine capable of several seasons in my opinion. Take care of your bike and it will take care of you. Sorry I can't give you X hours, but I don't think anybody could/will, and if so it would be a guess at best. Quote
Wicked98Shee Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 (edited) hours are irrelevant to a point, keep track of your motor by doing scheduled compression and leakdown testing. that will keep you ontop of your motor condition Edited November 8, 2005 by Wicked98Shee Quote
rebelbanshee2 Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 Oh goodness that crazy jargon looks familiar! it couldnt be though... Quote
s-540 Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 it all depends on how well you take care of the bike. IE keeping your air filter clean and not getting water in your motor. i raced a bike for 3 years and never had to rebuild it. Quote
350TwinDeathBed Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 Just go buy a 4 stroke. I remember your first post sounded something like "I don't like my Banshee but I am trying to like it, I don't wear helmets because they are uncomfortable and because I don't drive fast or take jumps". The normal person buys a Banshee to ride fast, go off jumps and take risks of spilling while wearing a helmet. I say you sell your new Shee to me for way too cheap and go find yourself a 4x4. Quote
locogato11283 Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 this is ridiculous..but since lately everyone wants to let the stupidness go.. ill just leave it right here... Quote
