SHEe DEVIL Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 When I had my wisdom teeth taken out I was 18. It was 2 weeks before my wedding and I couldnt chew any food or stand the pain I was in. So I made the appt, went to the oral surgeon, had all 4 taken out. There really wasnt any pain at all. If you smoke pack the back of your mouth with cotten or gauze because you dont want dry socket. Even sucking on a straw will cause that. I felt fine within a couple days. I had no bruising or swelling, just a little tender. But everyone is different. My husband on the other hand waits till the last minute and goes to the dentist and he take the plyers and pops it out. Good Luck. Jen Quote
BigRed350x Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 I never had or will ever have wisdom teeth. They did like a bazillion x-rays to check. They just aren't there. I am happy about it. Quote
dune_girl Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 i always tell people having my wisdom teeth taken out was the worst experience of my life...but i think it was more the anesthetics ...they kick my butt!! Im allergic to most pain pills....so i had to survive without them Quote
Capone Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 I was gased + numbed, all 4 were impacted and had to be broke out. while it was going on, no pain, when I got home it was a lil bit, i was talking on the phone that night though... just sounded kinda mumbled with the cotton in my mouth... its not that bad. Cotton eyed Joe Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 I got knocked out, woke up an hour later, went home. HATED it because I couldn't eat anything really. I was about 17, and it was over XMas vacation. It was about 2 weeks before my freakn breath didn't smell like road kill. Quote

One of the worst weeks of my life, sorry to say. I just remember that when I put any kind of suction or pressure on them they would open up and bleed and shit, it wasn't fun, but good luck! It's not easy, but if you can go a couple days without taking the pills, you can save up a nice little collection for when you aren't really in pain Quote
super88_banshee Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 Mine never really did hurt badly, i woke up like halfway thru the surgury and felt a bit of pain so they did something and i fell back asleep. Afterwards didn't hurt badly, it was more of an inconvenience when eating. But i didn't let it stop me from eating fried chicken and mashed potatoes the next day Quote
Proquad101 Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 I was told I need to get all 4 of mine cut out because they are impacted and have never broke through the skin yet. I was getting ready to get braces and when they told me I had to have my wisdom teeth taken out I said funk that. I have always heard it wasnt to bad if you are not very old but I'm 31 and would rather take a ass kickin that get my teeth cut out. Quote
350TwinDeathBed Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 Getting your teeth taken out is like getting an ass kicking... only in the face I would strongly suggest you get those 4 impacted teeth out because for starters you are already older than the suggested age to get them removed and if you wait longer there's a good chance they will cause problems later on (crowding, growth pains) If you can take a blow falling off a Banshee you can get your wisdom teeth out. I would say skip the braces (no braces at 31 ) and pull those suckers out. The worst part is the week after the surgery and eating is an absolute horror Quote
Ducman Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 I had 4 removed with just novicane. It hurt like hell and felt like I was in some sort of alen autopsy. But the recovery was no big deal. The first day was a little painful, I had some vikaden, beer, and weed (trifecta) and I didn't feel a damb thing. Make sure you get to the drug store for your vikaden before the drugs wear off. Quote

The braces will be the clear things so most people wont even know I have them. Quote
racer Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 just get some oxycontin 80's Proquad, its almost as good as heroin. or just mix up a potion: hand full of Valium(or w/e painkillers you get), and a 6 pack of tecate. you wont feel a thing. Quote

broke Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 I'm not even sure I want to post this, because yours may go better than mine did. Mine would probably fall under worse case senario. All four of them were impacted, the bottom ones had pushed forward enough to wear holes in the teeth in front of them. They actually formed cavities under the gum line. Needless to say, I had all six teeth pulled at once. My dentist sent me to an oral surgeon, because he said that it would be cruel to try what they needed to do with a concious patient After the drugs wore off the next morning, it felt like I was hit in the head repeatedly with a bat, it really was that bad. Tylenol3, Vicodin, and Darvacet(sp), had almost no use with out a Heineken or 3 thrown in. I had them done on Friday, slept until Saturday, still hoped to die on Sunday, slept through work on Mon, Tues, and Wednesday. Thanfully I work with a good crew that just me sleep in the truck. By Thursday I was starting to eat pasta, but it took close to two weeks before chewable food was even an option. Sorry, but that's how bad mine went. My wife was fine four hours after hers, go figure. Quote
