2twin350s Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 this winter i want to beef up the motor in my shee. i have a plus three swinger to put on. i do mostly trailriding and steep rocky hillclimbs.my mods currently are listed in my signutare. i want to take the pistons to 40 over. i have a mild midrange port job now with stock jetted carbs and 2 into 1 pipe. i love the low end power now but want to go to a set of dmc 916s. i dont want any other pipes other than those or my motofast. i dont ride a 100mph. like i said i want a setup that will climb some really severe hills. it already does but i want to climb more steeper stuff.my question is with the 40 over jugs and a vitos 4 mill stroker crank, will i get a real noticable power difference? will i be able to go to a dual pipe setup and keep my lowend? will i have to run bigger carbs? i also was thinking a coolhead with like 19 cc domes. currently i run a stock milled 20 thousands head and i am pushing around 130psi compression. i also run a 12 tooth front sprocket and mud machines. any input would be appreciated.also is the 4mm stroker reliable?or is there another motor mod at the same price i can do that is better. i would like to keep this deal under 1500 bucks with pipes and all.also has anyone tried the alba shift drum mod that uses bearings on the drum?does it smooth out the notchy shifting? BigRed350x Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 You might consider some cubs. Don't even start the trail friendly argument here people. They put out big power with the stock stroke. You could sell your jugs on ebay to help offset the cost too. That's what I would do. If you go with the 4mm setup, I have heard not such good things about the vitos crank. Consider one from somewhere else. Bigger carbs would be a plus with the stroker. Not sure about going to dual pipes versus the 2 into 1. I rode some bikes with the DMC's and they seemed like a midrange pipe to me. Quote
locogato11283 Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 cubs would be a waste of money for what you wanna do..you really dont even need to go 4mm..a good low end port job is all you really need. eric gorr does an insane woods port that has so much low end grunt its not even funny...i guarantee that setup would never let you down on those steep rocky hills. my bros setup was, gorr's woods port, t5's. noss head with 18cc domes, 33mm pwk, vf2...he could pull 17 tooth front sprocket like it was a 14...this is the route i would go... They will cost you 875 plus price of pistons if you need them. The cubs are good for trails as long as you never hit the power band. Quote

2twin350s Posted September 26, 2005 Author Report Posted September 26, 2005 so where do ya get these cheetahs from? and are they able to be bored or do they have a nikisil coating in them? Quote
broke Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 Cheetahs are with out a doubt the new budget top end kings. But for 75% of the riders out there, they are probably not the best choice. They will be fast, There's no way to even argue that. Like Loco said, for what you are looking for a basic low/mid port job would be your best choice. For the best woods motor you can build cheaply, I will say again that a set of RZ jugs can't be beat. Add a little more stroke to it and it pulls hard everywhere. Quote
