HOT ROD VS STOCK ROD (WHAT'S BETTER)

Dude, hot rods are connecting rods. They have nothing to do with building power. They have everything to do with your motors ability to handle a lot of power.

 

If you build your motor up, sooner or later your gunna want to make the moving parts inside your motor srtonger. Thats why people get the cranks welded and trued.

 

So if you've got a high horsepower motor, then you should be interested in Hotrods. If all you've got are pipes and a cool head, dont worry about em'

he might be referring to a hotrods crank. in which case, no you won't gain any horsepower either if it's the stock stroke. they also make a stock stroke long rod, which I'm guessing is just suppose to take some of the angle out of the rod at the 90 and 270 degree points of the crank. I think the crank itself is better quality and is more rebuildable though over a factory crank.

one thing to remember about hot rod cranks vs stock is the inside stock webs contain the pin on the stock crank and only need to be welded on the outside, the hot rods crankpin is separate from the webs and has to be welded on both inside and outside webs. if youre buying a used one make sure its welded on both sides of the pin. if you just weld the outside it will separate on the inside just as fast. stroker cranks come welded strok ones do not
