  1. I have two unmarked prodesign domes. No markings below locating notch or on rear. Any idea how many cc they are ? Is there a default size ?
  2. banshee pistons and crank the same but not the top end gasket set
  3. would that work with pump gas ? we only have 91 here in Ca
  4. bump for somebody smarter than me. i'm intrigued by the though of a 7mm stroker but i think youd need the cases trenched, right ?
  5. the crank he took out matches the 4mm longrod crank I have. I bought the engine on the RZ forum, it was advertised as a 4mm stroker engine. How would I know if its a 7mm stroker ? I dont think Hotrods makes a 7mm crank. The webs are the same size as a 4mm Hotrods. 7mm would likely be larger, right ?
  6. the head recess appears to be about 2mm. the rod length is 5.81" where stock is 5.6 or so ( measured it on a stock crank i have ). you can tell its a 4mm by how far the crank pin is from the web edge, that is a stroker is closer to the web edge than stock.
  7. oops, i didnt mean the head is cracked, only that i didnt know what was inside until he disassembled it!!!
  8. it is a long rod 4mm wiseco crank. On the rz forum they gave me the rod length of the rd 400 ( 5.810" small to large end) and thats it on the nose.I have a new wiseco long rod 4mm crank and it matches in all dimensions.I think the previous guy didnt want to use the wiseco 795 pistons since they cost so much so he used standard ones and recessed the head and put in a thicker base plate to compensate. that sound right ? unfortunately my builder bored the cylinders to match a set of standard wisecos and as long as this combo works ill redo it that way, though long rod special pistons, standard base plate and head would probably be better. used this builder since hes local, i had what i thought were the correct parts and i didnt think i would find this mess when i cracked the head !
  9. rz pipes are designed to hit in the upper revs, say 6-10k. not much point to making them hit lower on the street.not so sure the coo;ing passages are smaller but with the power valve theres only so much room on the exhaust side
  10. engine builder insists they are WSM pistons. WSM does not to my knowledge make long rod compatible pistons, right ? Is it even possible to use regular pistons on a long rod crank ? This engine had a head cut 2mm deeper and the pistons came above the cylinder edge at TDC. the head gasket was a single thickness metal one. Usually one puts in a spacer plate and the rest bolts on without mods. This is also an RZ powervalve engine though this shouldn't make much difference.
  11. WSM on 2nd bore. this should mean it is standard rod, but i didn't know wiseco made a 4mm stroker thats not a long rod and the engine builder thinks its a long rod.thats why i'm looking for something that would confirm its a stock rod length. it has a plate and the combustion chambers are cut 2mm more into the head so i'm not sure what the original owner did
  12. I HAVE TO REBUILD A STROKER ENGINE BUT I'M NOT SURE WHAT KIND OF WISECO CRANK WAS TAKEN OUT AS IT IS OUT OF SPEC AND NEEDS REPLACING.ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO TELL IF ITS JUST A STROKER CRANK OR IS IT A LONG ROD STROKER ? IT SEEM SOME MANUFACTURER'S STANDARD RODS SAY 29L ON THEM. THIS CRANK DOES NOT.
  13. i have access bnto a cheap banshee motor to put in my rz. i know the gearing is different and there is no oil pump. is there a tach output ? what other differences are there ? i know the head has different radiator out line.
  14. US RZs come in 1984 29L and 1985 52y-50 CDIs. the 52y-50 is far more reliable and sudden failures of the 29Ls are common. if you have the 29L you can get a 1985 wiring harness and stator and retro fit. we never got the full power ones in the US but the restriction was in the pipes and not the cdi.i think the cylinders hes talking about are 1UA cylinders off the so called F2 model we never got in the US and the difference here is in the port timing. IF you can find these theyll come out of Canada but theyre expen$ive and only worth a couple of HP. you can port your own similarly. Dont know nothin bout no special race heads miss Scarlet. banshee heads do not fit RZs and vice versa due to the powervalves
  15. i use the " instead of lead " additives for extra lubrication. never had a seizure but im pretty tame in mods lead is pretty hard om sparkplugs too
  16. thanks for the pics !!! now i can tell thanks for the pics !!! now i can tell
  17. hey good to see some rz tuners here. i actually dont own a banshee but several rzs and im eventually going to build a cub rz for canyons and track. this site has been great since these guys know their stuff and i get different opinions about stuff like reeds and engine mods. ive gotten downloads on engine teardowns and rebuilds. try finding that on an rz website !!!!!!!
  18. why would 68mm be any more compression than 64mm ? grand river said you could run pump gas if you get 22 or larger domes
  19. im trying to get big bore 22 or 23cc domes to fit a cool head. i see them on ebay but the sellers often say they cant tell if theyre big bore or not ( i have 68mm cubs ). is there an easy way to tell ?
  20. what domes fit a pro design cool head ? do trinity domes fit ?
  21. grand river. so most likely its coated but the intakes arent knife like and i can see casting flaws in the transfers. isnt this part of a clean up port ?
  22. just got cubs which were supposed to be clean up ported and plated. i dont see any metal taken off and the bores look like standard bores. does plating make them look any different ? does it cause the non bore areas to look sand cast ? dont want to make a fuss if its not indicated
