Ori Posted July 10, 2005 Report Posted July 10, 2005 tomarrow where going to walden and I have holeshot tires on.Do you think that I should lower the psi in them so they get better traction? What are some tips you have for the dunes?like cooling off, going up hills.I dont want anything to go wrong or blow on my atv. Bansh88 Posted July 10, 2005 Report Posted July 10, 2005 Unless the temp is over 100. Don't worry bout over heating. If you're running knobbies, i'd say run about 4 PSI. I run 5 or 6 in my paddles. Goin up hills? Hit the whoops as fast as you can and lean way back. If you slow up, the whoops will take your ass. Keep leanin back on the way up to keep traction in the rear. If you racing up the hill, try starting in 2nd and rev the shit out of it before you drop the clutch. Stock swingarm? lean forward at the start so you don't loop it. Quote

wesw Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 if its warm out and your ride hard, your stock radiator will make your bike run hot, if you dont have a temp gauge, i suggest making one or getting one. to cool the bike down most peps get on a hill and face the wind and let the wind blow thru the rad. 10 min it cools down pretty well Quote
warwgn Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 for climbing steep sand hills drop them down to 2 or 3 for the best result, and as mentioned before sit all the way back on your seat while climbing to get the best traction. if it starts to bog slide forward then when it picks up scoot back again. Bansh88 Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 If you start to bog on a hill, I suggest turning around! No fun being stuck on the side of a steep hill with people whizzing by you. Getting off, manually moving your quad sucks ass! You can always shoot the hill again. Try in a lower gear Quote
locogato11283 Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 i run 2.5 to 3 pounds when i hillclimb... Quote
Bansh88 Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 All around riding, go with 4 or 5. Lower if you happen to have beadlocks. Then again, if you like to throw roost and get sideways, run 8 or more pounds. Quote
stock-ish Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 I usually go around 4 but my buddy runs them at 2 once a trip we have to reseat the bead. So i say 4 is good Quote
