macgillivary Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 I used a marker too but a razor blade and just kept cutting deeper with each slice after that some sand paper to smooth it out and it looks good Quote
Bansh88 Posted June 26, 2005 Report Posted June 26, 2005 Use electric tape to make the outline. It is very moveable and bendable to make any line you want and you can pull it off and on again. A dremmel melts really bad but it works. For a straight line, a Hacksaw works awesome! Quote
BrianEb Posted June 27, 2005 Author Report Posted June 27, 2005 does anyone remember where that article was on the internet about how to cut them? Quote
XxMeltIcexX Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 Who needs a website?? I used a jizsaw and a handheld grinder... then some sandpaper.. Eric Quote
hittintrees srh Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 Who needs a website?? I used a jizsaw and a handheld grinder... then some sandpaper.. Eric 387309[/snapback] yea dude just layout some tape to make your cut, then use a cuttin wheel @ slow speeds, then use a little sand paper to cleen up your cut. Its not hard, just take your time. It'll turn out fine im sure. Quote
SANDSTAR Posted July 4, 2005 Report Posted July 4, 2005 After you get it smooth with sandpaper, take a soldering torch, get a BLUE flame (no soot) and lightly heat up the sanded edge. It will give it a glossy, rounded factory apperance. Try it on a scrap piece of fender to get the technique down. Quote
shee4202 Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 easy draw the shape of the fender you want and then use a dremal with a cutting bit and cut away. like sandstar said, take a torch to the edges of the fenders and it will make it look factory, sort of. I also found that if your plastics have any stress marks in them from roll overs, take the torch to the spot. don't hold it on there for as long as the fender edges. you dont want to melt any of the plastic. here some pics. http://community.webshots.com/user/shee4202 Quote
Stinger Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Does anyone want me to write up a tutorial on how to do this? I've got pics and such from when I did it and could write up a tutorial pretty quick (just like my YFZ450 Shox how-to in the supension forum). Quote
RNBRAD Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Used electrical tape to mark the line, cut it with a jigsaw then basically smoothed and formed my edges with an angle diegrinder and 3m rol-loc polishing discs. Then I hit it with a cotton wheel and brought the edges to a factory shine. Quote
reded Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 Use pinstripe tape...it conforms to corners better than electrical tape and you can pull it off and restick it if your not even. Quote
AirForceRulz Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 What i did was just drew it in usind a template I made and a sharpi. Then i took one of my moms ginsu2000 knifes and heated the tip w/ a torch and it went thru it like butter. Also no jagged and rough edges like a saw would leave. At least mine did'nt Quote
rptorman Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 A peice of paper to keep the line straight and a sharpie to draw it. Then I cut them with a pair of scissors. Clean them up with real fine sand paper. But I will be changing after reading some of you guys' ways. Quote
pimpeinkc Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 i never cut plastic, but it sounds like it would be pretty easy... sweet Quote
