  1. Hello Mayohsauce, I ran a cheetah 421 set up for years and never had any issues. I moved to the 485 when a couple of buddies decided to run the 485 and i sold the 421 to another buddy. Knock on wood, years later still no issues with any of ours. Fearnot is correct. You will want to get in touch with McDermott racing. The guys name is Harry and he's the one that worked these engines while with trinity and like fearnot said he got away from trinity and started McDermott racing. He is a nice guy and very knowledgeable.
  2. My bad, Does it matter? A broken spindle is a broken spindle
  3. Hey all, This may be a stupid question, but does anyone know why the two bolts that fasten the steering knuckle portion of the spindle are welded? I've got a broken weld on one of the bolts and was wondering if they absolutely need to have the bead of weld on there. Thread lock and/or a lock washer wouldn't be sufficient enough.
  4. I'm looking for a +2 chromoly steering stem with anti vibe clamp. Any suggestions? How much difference is there between Lonestar and Alba? The Alba is around $100 cheaper.
  5. Innova Sand Gear ATV Tires I was thinking about getting these. Anybody ever use these?
  6. There was a few shee's there. There were only 4 quads competeing. One of the shee's had a trex 517. I think he was having trouble with his engine. I'm not exactly sure what happen. One of the other quads had a street bike engine and he was doing pretty good.
  7. Also, I'm running a 485 P/V Cheetah with stock swing arm.
  8. I've been getting into hill climbing and the other week I went to Monson MA. I ran my regular trail set up with Holeshot GNCC's. I learned real quick that the set up, especially the tires were not cutting it. It was a really sandy hill and towards the end of the day the hill dryed up and got really loose. I'm looking for a sand tire set up. The thing is, and I'm not entirely sure if it was just this hill, but they only allowed paddle tires with a break in the paddle, which I don't quite understand. I'd imagine what it sounds like. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? Brand, type, size, etc.
  9. I've always thought they worked good. I think they sound pretty good too. I'm running them on a 485 p/v now and I don't do much more then trail riding, and they seem to do well in the low and mid range area. I'm going to try a buddies set of shear inframes maybe in a week or so and if possible my other buddies FMF Fatty's.
  10. I've got a buddy with the same engine set up except he's running Mikuni 36mm carbs and the thing runs great. I tried the carbs out on mine and hit a straight stretch of road and it seems to pull more in the top end where it wasn't before. I was thinking the pipes could have something to do with it too. I was just reading in another post that cheetah domes are trouble. Why is that
  11. When I had my 421 p/v, I was running 152 (Main) and 50 (pilot). I believe a CEL needle. Clip position #3. I had trinity stage 4 exhaust, 35mm pwk's, Ran great.
  12. I believe they are, but I will be checking just to make sure.
  13. I've got a 485 cheetah with power valves. Trintiy state 4 exhaust. Keihin PWK 35mm carbs. 4 degree timeing advance. 93 octane pump gas @ 32:1. NGK BR8ES Spark plugs @ 0.030" gap. At WOT the top end power seems to level out pretty quick. It almost seems as if I'm draining the bowls, but could that be? Could the carbs be too small. The low and mid power are there all the way. It's just the top that's giving me trouble. For years before the 485 I was running a cheetah 421 with the same pipes and carbs. I never had this problem with the 421. Its top end seemed to never level out. The RPM's just kept climbing and climbing. The only thing that I changed was the jetting. Rite now I'm at a 160 for the main and 45 for the air. The needle clip position is in position #3. The plugs are a little darker then they should be, not too bad, but I've got a little more tuning to do. Any suggestions? Anybody out there running a cheetah 485, what is your set up like?
  14. I don't think that alba sells that kit anymore. I know I seen one on ebay a couple of months ago.
  15. Found a quickie homemade license plate flipper on youtube. What you guys think? I don't want my plate to show all of the time, for obvious reasons, lol. Figure i'd only have it down for event purposes or if a popo happens to ask for it.
  16. Whats everyone doing with they're plates? I've had this shee since '03 and finallly got her registered. Any pics and/or suggestions?
  17. wont work for me either unless I do some kind of set up thing. Any ideas?
  18. I just ordered a DG Baja chassis skid, used on ebay. I didn't get the for weeks because ups lost the package. I asked my self the same thing, how do you lose a package that is at least 3' long? Well motor city didn't even box it, just put a shipping lable on the part itself. Motor city worked with me and was going to send me another but the two that they had left didn't come close to looking as good as the one that I bought. One of them wasn't even DG Baja, it was a cheapo from ebay. Luckily with enough harrasing ups they finally found it. Also, A friend just purchased polished cases. Same deal, he had a problem receiving them. When he finally got them I was surprised to see that only one half was polished. It was polished nice but me personally would want both half's to be polished, but anyway after looking them over really good, one half had a crack in it. They sent another set and BAM, cracked. My friend will be getting a refund and becasue of this buying new cases to be assured that they are good and not cracked.
  19. Is a lock up on a stock clutch be a good idea for a 535 in the trails? I always thought lockup's were for drag.
  20. Thanks, that definitly helps I think that I will be doing the 535 pv. Whats the lockup and slingshot do?
  21. Does the 535 smoke the 485? What are they running for a clutch?
  22. Hello All, I have a cheetah 421 pv and love it. I ride mostly trail and occasionally roads. I have a friend that is thinking of going with either a 485 cheetah pv or 535 cheetah pv. I'm going to sell the 421 and get either kit as well. It'd be a lot cheaper for me anyway to go with the 485 because I can use the 4mill crank that I have now and with the 535 I'd have to get a new crank and most likely a hindsen clutch set up. What do you think? Would the 535 be too much in trails? Is it going to make that much of a difference, especially for trail riding?
  23. Hello All, I did a little searching on here and could find an answer. Is there a skid plate that I can get for +2+1 ASR A-Arms? I can't see the skids for the stockers fitting? Like the ones one ebay.
  24. Hello, I have a stock crank from my 00. The only thing is, it needs bearings installed and I think that I have the two outer ones, but not the inners, i'd have to check.
