Animalman294 Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 I am trying to get more power out of my Shee and have a few questions about Cubs or Stroker's. Most of you are running stroker motors and enjoy the hell out of them. I personally have never tried either one of them, so I am not sure about the performance differances with either one. What are the cost differances in the two? What additional machining or parts do I need to get to set up a stroker, and who has the best prices for stroker's (helpful dealer's not money grubbers). Would I have less head ache setting up a Cub motor? What do I need to do to set up the Cub motor? Do all stroker's need to be ran with 100% race fuel or can I mix 50/50? Most importantly I want it to be reliable and not have to tear it apart all the time to keep t running good or have it over heat. Routine maintenance is a given, I just want to enjoy my weekend and not spend it working on the bike all the time. Thanks for any input that you have. It all helps my decision making.................. Quote
hops Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 (edited) My first question to you would be: What type of riding do you do? OK, nevermind, just get a 4mm stoker cub setup and be done with it. Edited May 4, 2005 by hops Quote
bigboybanshee Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 I know you already got plenty of info about the cheetah cubs in the other thread you posted...I don't know much about strokers to compare them. I can tell you this though...doesn't matter which setup you run, the more mods you put on your banshee, the less "reliable" it becomes therefore meaning you'll be tuning on it more. That's just a general "rule of thumb" for any engine...The saying "you pay to play" comes into factor whenever you start doing serious engine modifications. Yeah, you'll get lots of performance out of it, but also will wear faster than a stock stroke / port engine. Might wanna keep that in mind before you get started Quote

I sold mine also. I am haveing Buddy from SSR build my engine right now with cubs, RKtech heads, Redoin my 39pwk carbs. 1-5 override tranny. Buddy is a great guy, I PM him and he responds right away. dan is hard to get a hold of sometimes. They are 2 of the best out there Quote

Patriot Racing is where i got mine from, You guys going to put yours on a dyno? it will be interesting to see the difference between 3 different builders. Quote
cjm02ram Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 Im not really woried about how much HP they will have. I know it will bealot. Buddy builds some of the fastest bikes on the planet. Im just woried about getting a good setup to beable to use all the power. Quote
locogato11283 Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 i wanna get mine on a dyno sometime soon. when i do ill have some sheets for you guys. im guessin mine to be in the high 80's low 90's. Quote
Koolguyson Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 The way i see it is that you need a crank no matter which way you decide to go. A stock crank wont handle 80hp reliably, and a stroker is just a new crank in general. There are many other builders out there then A&S that have cubs in stock and produce just as strong motors. yfz450ss Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 im building a 4 mil motor and im going to tune it on a dyno ill post the numbers when i get them Quote

But it's all good. Just got off the phone with him not but an hour ago. The guy is up to his ass in alligators from the sound of things. Too much work and now his Mom got really sick, so he is trying to care for her at the same time. When it rains it pours, eh? Anyhow, from what I've heard and seen - Dan is one heck of a guy and will do what he can to make things right. But still, it sure is tough to have that shee just sittin in the garage takin' up space ain't it? Hang in there! Quote
eehsnab2 Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 im building a 4 mil motor and im going to tune it on a dyno ill post the numbers when i get them 364957[/snapback] I talked to Dan (Patriot) too about my 4mm Cub setup... Sounds like mine is coming next week. Hoping to get down to Redline Racing or DTR that weekend and get it on the dyno and do some tuning.... Cant wait! Quote
