jeepman380 Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Sidewinder Sprockets. I'm thinking about getting their Ti-Moly Series sprocket and Ti-Moly chain but I don't know if they live up to how people say they do. They say their Ti-Moly chain has like 14,000 lbs. tensile strength and hardly stretches or breaks. I'm also considering their Laser Cut Stainless Steel series sprocket and Gold series O-ring chain which has 12,000 lbs tensile strength. Almost as good but not as expesive. Thanks guys. Quote
locogato11283 Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 can i ask why? ive been running primary drive sprockets for years now. never any problems and they are fuckin cheap. rears are 15 bucks and fronts are 7 i think. how much are these sidewinders? i have a feeling that for the price of them i could replace my promary drives several times if needed for much less... FadedDreams Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 I think the only way it would be worth it is if you knew you were going to stay the same gearing the entire time you own your banshee.I'm thinking its close to $300 for the chain and sprocket kit. Quote
bansheefreestyler Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 im pretty sure gust rides em so what does that tell you Quote

BigRed350x Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 I use the Primary drive as well and have no complaints. Get them off RockyMountainATV and save yourself a crap-load of money compared to that fancy stuff. Quote

RNBRAD Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 I've had the Ti-moly for a year, no problems and no visible wear. I don't recommend the ss sprockets. They will tell you their is a greater risk of breaking them with any type of side impact to the sprocket. Quote

PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 who gives a fuck what gust rides? not to mention that if he does he doesnt pay for them..324233[/snapback] Are you explaining what a sponsorship is to Freestyler? I'm sure Gust sent him a letter with his picture in it for the mags and then sidewinder repays him by giving him a 10-15% discount. Duh Loco. Quote

rebelbanshee2 Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 actually sidewinder claims to not sponsor any one. Their chains and sprockets are really tough Ive had thier cheapest combp on a warrior for 4 years now and have only adjusted the chain once. Ive ran the cheap primary drive sprockets and worn them out in a very short time. Im trying the pricier primary drive now, chromoly front, stainless rear...and they seem to be holding pretty good. I use RK X rings and they seem to hold good too. So Id say its about even. Get a good set and have it for a long time or get a few cheap sets.. Quote
duner Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Gotta go with the Sidewinders on this one.I was really impressed with what I've seen.I WILL NOT run a cheap chain.(got a welded up case to remind me what happened).I also think the sand is way harder on drive componants.I currently have the Primary Rear.A friend has the Try-moly.After a year no signs of wear! jeepman380 Posted February 18, 2005 Author Report Posted February 18, 2005 I don't know why people are hatin' on Doug Gust...he's a bad ass. And as for the Z400 that he rides it's pretty bad ass too. My bro has a Z400 with a 470 kit and when I first road it I was pretty impressed by how much power and torque it had not to mention it's pretty fast...(he could beat me before I got my ported stroker motor but now he can't hang). As for the sidewinder sprockets and chain setup that Gust uses you know it's the best when he can last a whole season through what he puts to it and it is still barely worn. So i'd rather spend a little extra now then pay alot more later down the road for new sprockets and chains or even a new case; cause the cheap setup I bought cause I thought I was saving a dollar broke. I've been down the primary drive road and i've broke numerous chains and wore alot of sprockets so why not pay a little more now then pay alot later. Quote
