Brian060 Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 (edited) im lookin into gettin some new tires for the shee because it came with Mud Lites. I ride in the same area as the guy with "the bansheezone" website. I think his name is meat on the hq. Anyways he runs turf tamers, which would probably run pretty sweet on the packed coal. However, im gonna try my first xc race in early may, and i am pretty sure the coarse isnt gonna be over the hard pack coal fields. My question is, would the tamers be okay if i hit some muddy patches or would they suck altogehter. If the tamers wont work for a little mud and soft pack, how would the holeshot hd's work on had pack. I cant get both and I am leaning towards the tamers. Edited February 14, 2005 by Brian060 Quote
Brian060 Posted February 14, 2005 Author Report Posted February 14, 2005 Im also curious about how fast either of the two sets of tires wear. I herd holeshots wear quick Quote
FadedDreams Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Tamers aren't very puncture proof and wouldn't be the best choice for XC racing.Holeshots aren't bad until you ride on pavement, then they start wearing quick. They make a Holeshot just for XC racing.I think now alot of the guys run Razr 2's.For XC you need a tough tire that won't get a hole in it after the first lap.Something at least 4 ply,no less. Wassup350 Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 You ought to get some maxxis razors, they are 6 ply so they last pretty long, and hook up good in a variety of terrain. If the kinda ridnig your doing involves more mud then get some razor 2s but i dont think you need taht aggressive of a tire the razors will probably be good enough. Quote
locogato11283 Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 there are 3 tires that ive tried out here lately that ive found to be really great tires. hook well and last a long time. the tires are the itp holeshot hd, maxxis irazr and kenda gnarly. i would really check in to these tires. they can be ordered from rocky mountain atv for a real good price.
