  1. Yeah, I think the idiots at the dealership over-filled it. I took the disp-stick out and now it won't thread back in, either. Idiots goofed it up too, I think.
  2. No shifting issues?
  3. What would the hypothetical consequences be of a decent amount too much gear oil?
  4. No idea why. Just acts like 3rd is the top gear. Bottom 3 all work fine. Finding neutral doesn't seem to be too much of a chore, either.
  5. Pulled the carbs apart, turns out the pilot jet was a little clogged on the left side. Seems to be running well now!
  6. It's only the one side though and the plugs don't seem to show a lean condition?
  7. I tried some carb cleaner and put fresh gas/plugs in, no luck. Going to have to take them all apart and clean them properly, I guess.
  8. They seem to be pretty synced now, but the right side is just a tiny bit higher. They move simultaneously, though. Any thoughts anyone?
  9. No matter the setting on the screws on top of the TORS, the right slide is always slightly higher than the left one assuming they're both at the same setting. Is there another screw somewhere? I can't seem to find one.
  10. Is it safe to run it like that? They seem to be fairly in sync at this setting.
  11. Checked if the carbs were synced, it seems like the left one is a LITTLE slower, the right one goes up just a TINY bit quicker. How much of an impact could this make?
  12. It seems like the left pipe is not joined as tightly to the engine as the right one. Could something so simple cause this problem?
  13. It's missing those joint clamps or whatever they're called that go where the silencers join onto the pipes, I know that much. What's the best way to check for leaks?
  14. Geez, I certainly hope it's nothing like that. That's the whole reason I had the top end rebuilt.
  15. It almost looks similar to what this one is doing, however it will rev fine. http://bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=147396
  16. Not really sure how to describe the problem, but I'll start with a bit of back-story. The bike is a 2002, top end was rebuilt along with new reeds and air filter. This rebuild took place last winter, the bike has sat since then due to a lot of life's little problems. I fired it up earlier this spring and found it to be a bear to start. Once running, it was giving off light backfires, almost like one of the cylinders would cut out for a second and then kick back in with a little "pop", the strength of the noise seemed to be louder depending on how long the cylinder cut out for. I didn't have time to do much about it then, so it sat again until today. Once again, it was tough to get it going, but eventually it started up and seemed to run well until it started its little routine again. I pulled the plugs, they seemed to be a little wet, maybe a little dark. Leads me to believe that it's probably a rich situation? I also noticed that it seems to be a little more problematic on the left cylinder, not sure if that means anything. Both plugs looked nearly identical. Is it likely just a simple jetting issue? I'm not good with carbs, lol.
  17. Thanks guys, bought 'em from Cascade. Are these guys quick shippers?
  18. Doing the top-end and I need to get the reed gaskets. Dealer says they are on back-order. Are the stock/OEM ones compatible with the V-Force 3 cages? Any places to buy them easily online?
  19. We're going to do the engine anyways, the pistons/cylinders have some noticeable scoring on them from the sand. Hopefully it's one of these things, because the jetting and everything all seemed to check out. Electrical problem maybe?
  20. The jetting was/is good. However, it has slightly chipped reeds, a cracked intake boot and a messed up airfilter cage. Everything is going to be replaced, it seems that it sucked some sand into the cylinders. We're hopeful the rebuild and replacement of the parts I mentioned will get it back on track.
  21. My Buddy's Banshee will NOT get up into the meat of the power at all. We chased all the fuel issues we could and eventually found the compression was only 90 and 95. We're in the process of doing the top end, but still wondering if there is another issue causing the bogging/lack of getting into the power. I mean, other than the high rpm lack of power, this thing ran great. Didn't expect the compression to be so low.
  22. A compression test revealed that there is only 90 in one side and 95 in the other. Obviously a top end is in order. I guess this could explain the bogging, eh?
  23. Steel wool won't damage the pipes? Interesting.
  24. Nickel plating!
  25. My search function isn't working correctly, so forgive me as I'm sure this is a common one. I have my bike tore down to rebuild the top end so I figured while I'm waiting to get the cylinders back from being bored that I'd clean up my FMF Gnarlies. I just wondered if there were any tricks to it, or what everyone thinks is the best way to clean 'em up. Thanks in advance.
