quad4me Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Is this shock adjustable? I had them on the shee when I bought it.....way too hard for my weight(150 lbs.) Now I am on my stockers on firmest setting. Can I Get these WORKS to work for my size? Thanks Quote
ledofthezep Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 I'm sure they'll work for you & can be adjusted. I would contact Works for more info...I guarantee they're much better than your stockers. [email protected] (818) 701-1010 Quote
BdBanshee Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 (edited) You can adjust the preload yourself to soften it up some. The ring & collar directly above the white spring can be moved upwards to do this. Remove the springs and then you will see a small wire snap ring, move it into a groove higher up on the shock body and reassemble. Edited February 2, 2005 by BdBanshee Quote
Banchetta Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 I agree w/ Ron, but I've never seen a wide spacer between the spring and the grooves. Find a way to comrpess the spring to remove the collar... Quote
navy00banshee Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 i would try to adjust the preload, if doesnt work i would see about getting them re vavled to your weight and riding style. Quote

That is what I need to know. Quote
Blue Duece Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 you might want to get a lighter primary spring .....if you do back off the preload youll have the same ride, the bike will just be sitting lower to the ground, unless of course the preload setting you have now is compessing the the primary spring......... the right gage with your weight will help you stay planted in the corners and absorb smaller bumps better, i know elka makes a spring for that shock Quote

quad4me Posted February 2, 2005 Author Report Posted February 2, 2005 300-400 for these style. Works Performance : A-T Steeler Front Shocks, Yamaha Banshee 87-05 $323.99 PART# 791009 Quote
slowpokebanshee Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 I ahd this setup on my dual rate shocks, w/reservoirs, if you compress the spring and remove the collar, you can remove the spring and collars, and what you should try is "flip" the upper collar over, and that will adjust your spring pre-load, probably be soft, but I am guessing these are setup for extended arms, with a high amount of leverage (shock mounts closer to the frame) so even if you adjust your pre-load, you probably will not ahve proper valving. I just sent mine to works performance, $130 they "re-built/serviced them, and set them up how I wanted. I am so much happier now. good luck Quote
