iceman Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 So today, I get home from school, and start taking apart my KX, get the plastics off, get the carb out it's dirty as hell, my airbox is cracked, well looks like I need a new airbox, keep going, oh the left radiator is bent up, cool!, get the handlebars off, threads on the clamp is stripped, so the bars arent on real tight, cool, forks are still bleeding, try to take the pipe off, oh but I have no spring puller and they are rusted together anyways, everything is rusted, stripped, and dirty on this bike, I am so pissed I have dumped so much money into the bike to have it still be crap. The handlebars are nice, and so are the plastics, it runs alright, but everything else is rusted and dirty, and no matter how much I clean and scrub, it's still all dirty, and rusted. And theres buildup an inch thick everywhere. Ughhh. I'm trying to learn to ride two wheelers real well, but with a bike like this it's almost impossible. I think after I get the chain and sprockets and plastics on, I might sell it, and just take whatever my dad gives me, and put it towards the banshee, my dad wants me to race, a stock banshee, I'm fine with that, but a banshee isnt exactly an mx bike stock, but he said hes willing to make it into an mx bike if I win a few races and get more into the sport. Maybe I'll just give up on the dirt bike, I don't want to give up but goddamn. Shits crazy. Quote
joshv5.0 Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 sounds like you need to strip that bad boy down and have everything sand blasted and powdercoated Quote
locogato11283 Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 im throwin one up for the mx banshee. if you dont, ill take your dad up on that offer. have him send me a pm. Quote
iceman Posted January 21, 2005 Author Report Posted January 21, 2005 hehe, I was tryin to strip it down but almost every damn screw is stripped and they are all full of rust and gunk, so I just lost interest, its half taken apart in the garage right now, I'll be back at it again tommorrow. And I'm hopefully getting the frame pc'd at least, I'll clean the rest some other way. Anyone know of any products that will help make it shine like it came out of the dealer? Quote
chris642 Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 i got a nice kx 65 for you to learn on actually, i think i better get it all down before i get on a 250. but if i had a 250 i would dump alot of money into it. the kx 65 i got wont last me very long if i rode mainly bikes, so its pointless to make a 65cc bike nice. if you dont feel comfortable on bikes you wont have fun on them. i mean, you will get used to it eventualy, but if you like quads better, build up the shee. BigRed350x Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 Wow, you should not get a banshee. Obviously you don't have the time to maintain the bike you already have, and it would be a shame to see a banshee rusting away. Its not hard to keep them in good condition, I don't see how you could let the bike get that bad in the first place. Quote
iceman Posted January 21, 2005 Author Report Posted January 21, 2005 (edited) Cause I bought it as a project bike, it's come a long way....and the banshee isnt going to rust away...I take good care of both the bikes, my kx was poorly maintained BEFORE I got it. And I do have a banshee.... Edited January 21, 2005 by iceman Quote
